Wanted:
WTB: DAC/Headphone Amp with RCA out

Will Ship To: Anywhere

I'm looking to purchase a desktop DAC/headphone amp with RCA outs on the back. It HAS to work with OSX, it will be used primarily on an OSX machine. Switchable RCA outs so I can use my KRK Rokit 8s when I'm not listening to headphones.

My headphones are as follows

JH13 Pro

SE530 Custom

Senn HD515

Sony MD1R

Looking to stay under 300. Need something that will last me a while.

Is that an offer to sell or a suggestion?

I do not own a Audioengine D1, so it was a suggestion.

(best my little brain could come up with)

Easy.  Look at the headphone amp models from Ross Martin Audio.  Much better sounding than many Chinese dac/amps you will find for under $300.

Here is a review to get you acquanited:

Only thing is it may be hard to find a switchable RCA out so you may havee to turn off your power switch on the Rockets to listen to cans.

Unfortunately a switchable RCA output is much more important to me than sound. Also, that ross martin is a DAC only, so I would have to drop another $200 on a headphone amp which is out of my price range. That Audioengine D1 looks like it has literally everything I need. Waiting to see if any interesting offers come up (one has)

Ross Martin has dacs on page two that have built in headphone amps.  FYI, the D1 does not have switchable rca outs either.

Good luck finding one that does, it may be a rare bird.

From the Audioengine D1 FAQ page: this is all i need

When I plug in headphones will the D1 RCA outputs be muted?

Yes, the output will mute and audio will only play through your headphones.

cool, nice of them to not list that on the specs page.  Seems you've found the rare  bird, cheers.

Yep. I think its a good one for now. Will wait for a few offers to see if anyone can meet that price range.
