I modded the Fiio logo splash screen, simplified the startup and shutdown sequences, put the original battery and charging indicators back in the top strip, modded the original flat slider on/off and gain switches, and included solid black-ish PNGs to display when you don't have album art and when using as a DAC.

Next, I'd like to see if I can mod the semi-circular indicators for volume and such to be linear. I might also mod the USB icons to be the nice blue color Mr Trev used for the rest of the theme. For extra credit, I'd like to see if I can provide a bit more spacing between list items in the Quick Menu (@Mr Trev: Do you know if that's possible OR us it simply limited by PNG dimensions?)

Once that's all done, I think I'll make a charcoal gray and orange theme similar to what I did with the older text-based X3 firmware, as that's my color preference.

Me like orange ...beerchug.gif

Me wait.

It's as done as it's going to get for a bit, so give it a shot and see what you think. Most of the credit goes to Mr Trev at this point.

The smaller file size is probably just due to the smaller/cropped gfx I used, and maybe a different level of png compression. Oh, and the fonts I used was a smaller file size too I think.

Changing the playing pic is probably one of the easiest thing to do. Just make sure it's the same size and has the same name, and swap with whatever you want.

Not sure if the volume can be changed. It looks like it scrolls in an arc, but I haven't tried. Not too sure what you're referring to in the quick menu, but as long as it can fit in the existing png size it should be ok. Unfortunately trial and error is a pain cause you actually have to reflash the x3 everytime we change something.

I do have to give credit to Fiio also, since most of the gfx I used are just the stock icons, only scaled, cropped, and recoloured.

I'll report back on whether or not I can successfully linearize the arc.

Regarding the Quick Menu: You changed this from a circular to vertical list. I like that a lot better, but the menu items are kind of squished together. I was wondering if they can be spread out more vertically OR if they have to be more or less squished together because of a PNG height limitation.

Just fired up GIMP and had a look at the file. As I have it the lines of text are pretty much using the full height of the png. I suppose it could be possible to use a smaller font size, that should give some extra room.

Good luck on the volume, been trying to brain out a way to simulate an actual knob myself...

@Mr Trev: What font did you use? If you had to download it, where did you get it? Thanks!

The font is called museo. got version 8.4 by somebody called ihint (if you're on windows you can just double-click the font and view or install it). I stumbled across it googling for unicode fonts that would offer the most support the langs. the x3 has. Damned if I can remember where, but should be easy enough to find on google again - unless of course its been taken down. Also found some droid variant fonts that worked pretty good with my older themes, plus ubuntu which seemed ok too if you want to give them a try.

@Mr Trev: Aha! That's why it looks familiar. I've run across Museo before.

Thanks for the theme Trev. The default play png was easy to change. I can,t send a picture,I don't have the rights. Oh well!

what software do you use to modify the theme?

Start by reading the beginning of this forum. It is a unpacking tool. I have changed the way

a few things work to my liking but it is very time consuming and fun.

By all means feel free to tweak any of my themes, just remember to post them back here for all to enjoy.

Which leads me to my recent theme updated to 3.0.

You can see a mock up in the previous post. I attempted to switch the order of the list (making Browse/Database the first selection), but it seems the scroll order is hard coded. Made some other tweaks here and there - changed the music op. from a round gfx to list, some adjusts to make it easier to see outdoors (still not perfect, but at least now you can see your selection).

Enjoy..

Very great work thank you! Do you know if some options can be unhide e.g. in FW 2.1 we had the option in "Play settings" -> "Display mode" -> Cover, Lyric and ID3, can this be visible agian in FW 3.0, or it's like the scroll order hard coded? Or other question is there a way to hide elements in the main menu, e.g. hide "Favorites" / "Database" because if someone is only using the "Browse Folder" option? But anyway with your mod the UI improved a lot.
