You should really give the HD800's a go on the Phonitor - great results. Can't stand the AKG K701/02.

HD800 are much more suitable for this purpose - havent heard more neutral headphone so far.

No one is trying to use high end headphones as studio monitors. They use... monitors.

Also the HD800s are not my kind of neutral. SSSSssssssSSSsssSSSS

Yeah I have to admit the treble is a bit of a problem if your ears are sensitive to brighter end sound. The Anax mod (version 3.0 last I checked on purrins forum) does fix the problem quite a bit if you don't want special and specific amplification and/or cables.

Yep I agree, some may disagree but it is hard to not notice how well the pair matches together if you spend a little bit of time with the combo.

So i think the akg k812 and the hd 800 are on the Same Level!but all two headphones has a BIG WEKNESS!its the HIGH WEIGHT Of the these two headphones! A hd 800 or akg k812 with 250 Gramms would be Nice in the LONGTIME Future,
post #775 of 985

K812 is not that heavy, it is only around 390g (without cable), don't find it uncomfortable.

330g without cable is absolutely acceptable with HD800... They are extremely comfortable, even more than DT880.

yes thats right but we are not in the 80is we are in in the 2013 and there must be the Weight down under 300 Gramms!li am not Big fan of ultrasone of the sound but the light Weight construction of the EDITIONS of Aluminium is the best!but we all know HOUSING and Build construction is very expensive!to expensive FOR akg and sennheiser?!!

So i have many longtime diskussions with the engeniers from Beyer, sennheiser and akg behind me!and i am for sure the high end headphone of the Future(in 10 years!!) will be not ARROUND EAR It will be ON EAR with max 200 Gramms an the pads will be filled with GEL not with foam material!

For me I don't have any issue with the weight of K812. Only heavier phones like LCD2/3 & HE6 I have problem with on my neck. I am sure companies would like to make it lighter but obviously cannot due to technical difficulties or the fact that the public prefer metal constructions (especially given the price).

If you like light weight, go IEM, super light & sounds good too.
