THE X IS CHEAPER THAN THE 3... that's a shock

I hope AKG haven't given into the bass-heads with these... This seems to be a pattern at the mo. Any more bass than the HD800 then they will be coloured for sure.

True audiophiles know how bass should sound. And it shouldn't be emphasised.

I hear u there, I love my dt 880 for it's bass. Same goes for my Modded W1000x [the bass is less than stock, thanks to L3000 pads and dynamt dampening mods]

that said though... for EDM I still like some EXTRA BASS... still I think I might get the X... soon... if it can out perform my DT 880... I might sell mah soul for it

Because they're making money. If sennheiser couldn't sell HD800s for $1500, the price would drop to a point where they could sell headphones. We're the market and unfortunately we've been focused on consumerism of headphones.

Ah, really? Bad news... But I think some folks mentioned they clamp less.

That said,,, I wonder how the LCD X compares to the DT 880... hopefully the X is less bass than the HE 400 and more than the DT 880.

Absolutely, DT880 have very good bass. But you hit the nail on the head with EDM, I like electronic music and appreciate big bass for it. Problem is, you buy a headphone with big bass and you are limited to bass heavy music..

If you are paying the big monies, then imo an hp should be neutral (balanced). This is so it plays well with all music, not just one genre. I equalize my hd800's when I want to get down to some bad ass beats haha. But I like it naked and neutral with all other types of music. Its always harder to take away rather then add when it comes to bass ime.

agree'd and I HATE Eq'ing it feels so dirty q.q I like my headphones as naked as I can have them ;3

stilll... me HE 400 is getting very little head time, as EDM is well pretty kicken out of my car stero... that said I think I'ma sell my HE 400 and try my luck on a Konjo KM-01 Brass SE amp for my w1000x... my w1000x needs some love and a MSRP $900 amp might be the way to go!

Could you give me the link for this post, thanks!

EDIT: Btw, the description quite reminds me of K712 Pro... Very balanced for many folks but in reality a bit emphasised in bass (check graphs) - and this emphasis overshadows treble, making it a bit darker-sounding.

Making any judgements on which of K812 or LCD-X is the best seems premature at this point.
