NEW! AKG K812 - Page 36

It will be interesting to observe how the high-end market is going to develop... It seems that companies feel there is no room for increasing price further. Therefore K812 is priced between 1000 and 2000USD as well as the recent "flagships" from Audeze.

Basically, I doubt many people would buy any new Sennheiser flagship for like 2500 or 3000 USD. Especially if not armed with electrostatic drivers. Maybe the pricing will stagnate in 1000 - 2000USD territory for the next 10 years?

I can't remember which thread it was posted in, but someone posted that Sennheiser published patents in February this year, on something that looked a lot like an electrostatic/planar driver.

EDIT:

Here it is:

If a new sennheiser comes out in a different price range (I'm assuming higher, since they already have the HD700), then it's not really an answer (or competition) to the K812.  That would only be the case if it was in a similar price range to the T1 and HD800.  The K812 will likely undercut the HD800 considering AKG's street price is usually considerably lower than their MSRP.

When Nomax hints at a new Sennheiser we can either close this thread because it will spiral out of control or better....this time we believe him!
And I don't think they try to improve on the HD800 as it wouldn't work....seeLCD2 improving with LCD3.
So it must be a planar headphone.....WOW!!!

I have a gut feeling Nomax is pulling crap out of his arse when he says Sennheiser is releasing another flagshop/planar headphone especially, I mean he is making these unreleased k812 sound like the second coming since sliced bread.

/thread is all I can say.

Germany and Switzerland are located close to eachother (assuming that AKG is made in Switzerland and Sennheiser in Germany). Maybe he's an insider.

I think you mean Austria rather than Switzerland for AKG, which is also near Germany.  However, whatever contacts he has, if he keeps leaking info they will likely cut him off.  Unless of course the "leaks" are intentional to build viral marketing.

If he is an insider, then he is not allowed to leak information due to NDA agreements, plus he will need authorisation here as an industry insider from the mods and admins that he is who he is, not some bsing regular individual.

I mean the K812 isn't even called thr Pro for truth sakes, what makes you think the rest of what he is saying any more than truth compared to regular speculation/assumption.

Well, I don't think anyone here really believed him until others started to corroborate his info from initial impressions, namely the official London demo.  Time will tell though, once they are officially released.

What's crazy is that I always thought he is an AKG insider... But now, actually, he just killed the K812.

I can officially announce that Sennheiser will not be bringing out another flagship in the next 3 months. And if they do, I will officially eat my own arse.
