Well, it was a quite logical outcome after michaelxray and nomax stated that AKG K812 are the best headphones ever made, beating even SR-009... Among other things.
People seem to like Nomax and call him a hero... I dont. Maybe I am weird or too realistic/pessimistic. I just distaste this childish way to talk about headphones or anything. I value rational approach - intelligent and experienced people talking together - and not stupid shouting about our new toys.
Thing is it sometimes gets too serious too quickly. I've posted an honest account and you know exactly where/how I rate this headphone, so that's me done.
At this stage there's not much else to say about this headphone soundwise and just wait, if one is still interested, until the next person hearing it posts impressions. I think AKG are very European and so don't do much in the States. It might even be released here in the UK/Europe before anywhere else.
But I do think that removing the £100 stand from the package would be a good move from AKG. It'll make it by a genuine amount, lower priced than the HD800 and level with beyers T1 RRP in fact. Maybe sell two versions - with and without the headphone stand. And please provide say two more cables - one with a permanent 1/4 inch adapter would be nice.
Exactly, we all want a serious discussion about headphones, but seeing as there was no basis for serious discussuion [until now] the childish humor was enjoyable. It was... not sarcasim but... every one in that thread was just picking fun at our selvs. Nomax was teh extreme example of AudioPhiles, he was teh sterotype, and we praised him for his display. It's not ever day that we remember that "normal people" sometimes hear even our serious discussion as stupid shouting about new toys, and at the end of the day, boys are still boys and we boys do like our toys!
Yes there are plenty of female AudioPhiles but you get the saying, even with all of our seriosness and realistic approach to discussion about headphones. To the majority of the world, who look in on us from time to time, we might as well be shouting about a new toy
so Nomax was... I guess a reflection. He represented, or he mirrored our behavior in it's simplest form. ANd I for one got a kick out of that, my mother still gives me a funny look when I talk about headphones lol, but I give her a funny look when she talks about shoes. So it's always good to be able to laugh at your self. And if your too serious to step back and laugh at your own foolishness, well that's not good imo
[Nomax was an example of AudioPhile Satire]
I would like two packages for the headphone though, one with all the extra's and BONUS features. And one with the bare minimum!
