NEW! AKG K812 - Page 26

"perfect" or "best" is mentioned too many times to my liking in this thread... I advise to get back to reality and stop the hype train.

There is no perfect headphone and never will be. "Best" is absolutely subjective in terms of sound quality as well as comfort or ergonomics.

It will be very interesting to to see how reviews will be and how they will measure. Looking forward to Tyll getting them (as I'm sure he will).

Vegeta, what does the scouter say about the K812's hype level?

Do you mean Scooter ?

If the Omega stand is $100+ by itself my hope is they sell a version of the headphone without it and discount the price accordingly.  I'm sure there are many people who are not in need of an additional stand and don't want to be forced to pay for one anyway.

Definitely looking forward to Tyll getting his hands on them, it is always a runaway hype train in my eyes until he puts forth a formal review on something new.

But hey, at least this is a real thread about a real new AKG flagship headphone that actually exists and not a sarcastic rumor/troll thread like the last 20 or so threads on this topic have been.  That's something right?

Dissing nomax huh...I reckon we should have a poll, on a separate thread: 'love or not love Nomax?'

The stand is very nice and I'll probably keep it. Though it would make sense for them to sell a version without it, definitely. I couldn't understand phonak's decision to give a free 012 with the excellent 232's. (sidenote: Still a real shame that they've stopped making headphones. Real shame).

Well, it was a quite logical outcome after michaelxray and nomax stated that AKG K812 are the best headphones ever made, beating even SR-009... Among other things.

People seem to like Nomax and call him a hero... I dont. Maybe I am weird or too realistic/pessimistic. I just distaste this childish way to talk about headphones or anything. I value rational approach - intelligent and experienced people talking together - and not stupid shouting about our new toys.

Thing is it sometimes gets too serious too quickly. I've posted an honest account and you know exactly where/how I rate this headphone, so that's me done.

At this stage there's not much else to say about this headphone soundwise and just wait, if one is still interested, until the next person hearing it posts impressions. I think AKG are very European and so don't do much in the States. It might even be released here in the UK/Europe before anywhere else.

But I do think that removing the £100 stand from the package would be a good move from AKG. It'll make it by a genuine amount, lower priced than the HD800 and level with beyers T1 RRP in fact. Maybe sell two versions - with and without the headphone stand. And please provide say two more cables - one with a permanent 1/4 inch adapter would be nice.

Tyll raved about the K701 when it came out. I still love them. Many here think they suck. So does it really matter in the long run?

Yes, he provides measurements... that's all I am asking about from the very beginning :-)

(I just want to check the frequency response graph to immediately recognize whether the headphone is worth listening/considering or not for me)
