I will prefer to wait for Mike from Headfonia to review it haha

I think you'll get more useful information from that pocket-lint.com website than from Headfonia

I personally likes Mike's better xD because his taste in music almost same like mine and I had read a lot of his review including those headphones that I had tested before and his review is excatly the same as my thought ^_^

Nomax, have you listened to them ?  Did you like them more than Sennheiser HD800 and Beyerdynamic T1 ?

Thats what he was saying/posting all the time, in other thread to, so, yes, he found them better.

He acknowledges the HD 800's superior soundstage though, afair only in size though.

Huh...36ohm and 1.5 tesla, really similar to TH900

A bit doubtfully, powering is probably more like k701 & D7000. AKG usually quite power hungry.

Yeah~ but the Tiesto line was the easiest to power to my experience. I can drive it straight out of my iPod/iPhone but the K550... not sure why but my iPod can't even drive it to decent volume

Not just volume but to make it really sing with power & great bass.

The iphone/ ipod probably doesn't has enough power to drive the K550 hence not even enough to deliver volume, let's alone power & strong bass... Need a decent amp.

Has it been mentioned what the efficiency is?
36 ohms sound like require a bit of current to be more optimal.

...and I have no idea why they release the AKG K551 with built in mic and control for iDevice... or is it easier to drive?

Maybe problem isn't with iDevice but with hearing of listener?

Anyway, if K812 would be more musical than HD800 I am starting feeling sorry for my wallet.
