I am new here and was hoping to get some advice :)
So I am a recording musician (home studio - nothing fancy). I sing and play guitar (typical lol), and I did a bunch of research last year and decided on the Audio Technica ATH-M50's. Previously i had owned Sennheiser HD280 Pros. Unfortunately, a few months ago my 2 year old son managed to wrap my M50's around the bottom of my rolling chair... (sigh). Needless to say, the plastic joint on the left side broke. They still do work... but even with my repairs are quite uncomfortable. So went back to the HD280s... until today one side stopped working...(sigh x2). Anyway, i can look into more repairs, but I would like to see if i have so options for an upgrade or whatever. Portability isn't as important to me; I am much more intersted in durability and sound quality. As I said I do need them as studio monitors (as I do record), but i have used them as my main music listening cans. I have been eyeing the Sennheiser hd25's (for durability) and potentially the Aluminium version (?). Anyway open to suggestions! Thanks Guys!
Edit: Just for some other info. My budget is hopfully $200 or less, I dont currently have a pre amp, and I use a m-audio fast track pro as a soundcard for recording and listening (non dedicated preamp).
Edit 2: Just been looking at the Amperior, I am very interested in them, but what is the differenece between the Aluminium version?
