NEED HELP CHOOSING DAC FOR BEINMER

I currently own a fiio e11 and was wondering would it be worth it to get a digital to analog amp? Does it really sound that much better? Because my current set up I'm very happy with but if it can get better I'm all for it I'm using the fiio e11 and sound magic hp100 and my iPod is the source. Is there an amp that gives you more hang for your buck?

The cheapest external DAC I know of, that works with your iPod's LOD port (using a digital connection), cost $230.

For $10 you can get an LOD cable, which connects from the Apple device's (iPod) LOD port to the line-in on the E11,

that would be an analog connection.

I just purchased one this morning but I was under the influence that the amp itself converts it to analog not the cable? What's the benefit in getting the e11? I'm a noob and still learning.

An external DAC basically converts a digital signal to an analog signal, an external DAC may or may not also come with a headphone amplifier (E11 is a headphone amplifier),

Amplifiers take in a analog signal and output a boosted analog signal.

So you plug the Apple device's LOD into the match LOD input on the DAC, at the other end of the DAC, you use a cable to connect an amplifier (head amp or speaker amp).

Plug in iPod cable which connects from the dock to the line in on the amp and then headphones on the line out on the amp and out comes a boosted analog signal? Is there something I'm missing? Sometimes I see pictures of this silver looking thing on top of a phone/iPod and amp combo kinda looks like a bull bar for a truck am I missing that?

Would you recommend a better amp?

Oops, I though you had bought the DAC, but I guess you bought the cable.
