i wonder why??

Stupid question before I plunge: Should in theory the Custom  offer a better sound than the Universal ?  Is the  " Custom route " worth the extra trouble ?

Hard to answer, some have had nightmare scenarios of sending back and forth, and then you have to do it again every few years? Others get a perfect fit the first time. But customs should sound better than universals.

Noise isolation in a universal is challenging for me. With the same tip it's hard to get constant isolation especially on the move. Customs gives me constant level of isolation I seldom touch the volume pot anymore. With universals I constantly fiddle with the volume pot to hunt for the comfortable volume level.

The answer for universal to customs is easy .

Customs when inserted correctly make a better seal in both isolation and SQ. Any issues I had were me and not the company. I will admit that and there is ALSTABILE by joker I think that really explains how to.

Universals are fast to put on and off. But you pay a price for the convince. It is difficult to make fit and sound correctly and further more as tips effect the sound how the hell will you know what is right.

Also they move as you walk or even just sit . So the SQ changes.

So take your pick.

My Shure SE's are constantly being pushed out of my ears... I have always used universals and have had this problem all the time. I chose customs for the fit:)

Get silicone tips that are in rings single double or triple. They hold better and give you a better seal too.

Search the site on tip rolling. There is a boat load of info and opinions . I think the term is boars. As in single boar or double boar.

Just my 2 cents on custom vs universal iem topic: Once I felt the comfort/isolation/seal/sound of custom, I decided not to go back to universals again. Too much pain, hassle, bad seal, bad isolation, horrible comfort etc.

However that's my case only and I see and understand people who suffered from numerous refits too. I might also add, I heard/read horrible things about JHA build quality/fit/finish during the sale periods, I hope everybody will get their best fit as first try.

+1. I am hoping I best the rush since I ordered it 6 weeks ago. We will see. But if you live here in the USA it's really no big deal , my first set was a refit. But it was me. I am so ashamed:)smily_headphones1.gifsmily_headphones1.gif

I already have those:) its just that I keep pushing them back... And this creates a sort of vacuüm which sometimes hurt... I don't know.. Maybe my earcanals are bend like a racetrack haha, it did seem that way when I saw my impressions!
