New JH Audio flagship! "Siren Series Roxanne" - Page 58

Just realized that they released the spec on the product page:
Quote:
Frequency Response: 10Hz to 23kHz
Input Sensitivity: 119dB @ 1mW
Impedance: 15 Ohms
Freqphase time|phase WaveGuide

LOL

Good luck to anyone hoping to drive these with an amp/DAP with greater than 2 Ω output impedance !

That's something I learned the hard way with UM's Miracle, but quite a few CIEM owners seem rather blasé about, since some CIEMs have a higher impedance (notwithstanding the known fact that impedance varies in relation to frequency).

Personally, I'm cool with it and it wouldn't concern me in considering purchasing the Roxanne, but it may be an issue for some folks with gear with inappropriately high OI.

Just because you already spent a grand for a CIEM doesn't makes it wise to spend 200 bucks because you want the looks of a CF?

Come on you can still get the same looks just by going with the acrylic and get the CF designer art.

I like CF looks as well but not if used as CIEM shell. If it's a universal Roxanne probably since you do not need to reshell after a few years.

BTW, thats 50 bucks a year for 4 years ($200 CF option). If you invest it wisely it's probable you earn 8x of the same amount in 4 years.  Enough to buy the TOTL CIEM available by that time.

People who have amps like that do not know it can sound so much better unless they do an A/B test. Years ago I did this and after that surprise I always make the right choices in amps.

I was the same - I had to hear it, too, before I realised the difference... and the difference (to me, at least) is huge.

Anyway, I don't see it as a 'bad' or 'negative' aspect of the Roxanne - just one to be mindful of and to take account of when matching with source components.

My CF upgrade was 160 because of the sale. Nevertheless... It is about preferences as a sale like this is partly emotional as well smily_headphones1.gif I don't want to step on someones toes because they chose otherwise... Just my point of view smily_headphones1.gif

The good news is newer amps nowadays have output impedance of < 2ohms. Many of them even the budget portable amps (e.g. Fiio) have less than 1 ohm.

The jh16 is 16 ohms . And at the beginning this was the one ciem. That did not sound right with an amp I had for everyday use. Live read and learn , great forums. People.

what I understood here is that the titanium/Silver flying girl is default with the carbon option. Does that mean that there is no other choice?

So is it impossible to get the cabon option with a red flying girl?

Agreed.

But there are still the likes of iRiver...

Anyway, it's nice to know the specs. The treble extension looks nice, but how that actually pans out (pun intended) at higher frequencies remains to be seen/heard, at least from a subjective standpoint. The actual output might roll-off quite drastically, even with a 'super-tweeter' BA. I'm very much looking forward to some reviews on this CIEM, I must say!

I have the aw120 what is the output imp anyway. It sounds fine with all my iem,s ??

I'm just saying it's not for me. As long as you are happy with what you are getting then I can't argue with that. I was in awe the first time I saw the video of Roxanne in CF shell which only lasted 2 minutes and immediately felt sick after I learned it's a $200 option.

Yeah can't really understand the reason for AK1xx DAPs huge output impedance design especially the 100. With the price tag already hard to swallow, the output impedance for me really killed it. There is the RW mods but why go to such lengths? Thankfully we have options out there. DX50 in particular. :L3000:

The ak 120 is 3 ohms output although not ideal it does sound fine with all my iem,s even the low jh16. At 3 ohms it puts it as a5 to one ratio . But I do not know why they did not use a 1 ohm or so..

They feel it sounds better that way, even into 16 ohms. Same result the Russian modders got when they experimented with modding the AK100.
