New JH Audio flagship! "Siren Series Roxanne" - Page 399

check the answer i got from them when I sent an email asking for a refund after such delay and lack of ETA response.

The reply I received is almost surreal:

Hello Diogo,
We do not offer refunds. It states this on the website when your placing the order.

Thanks,
Angie

Does on the ducking website says you have to wait 7months for your order?! This is ridiculous.
i can't believe, honestly, premium price for **** customer service.. this is outrageous.

I have purchased 4 JH products before. one JH16, one JH13 FP, one JH16 FP one roxanne, and 3 of them are still with me. I am not really here to argue. But they all do have the same house sound (which is termed as sound signature too me). "pretty fast bass with great quality, recessed upper mid, more presence of lower treble and rolled off upper treble." This is the house sound of JH product, every single of them do have this to some extent. I totally agree that roxanne sounds "relatively" more mid centric, fuller and warmer, and JH16 has even more recessed upper mid, even more lifted upper treble, which gives you that U shape sound signature you were referring to. But to my ears, there is no way they sound like two completely different product like: LCD 2 vs T1, because they still share the overall frequency response similarities. I also describe U shape for a CIEM that has a lifted >11k Hz, which is not the case for JH16. But again this will depends on what you actually comparing. When compared with ear sonics EM32 (with a lifted >13k Hz), none of the JH products is U shaped at all. I am really not trying to create any war here because I can see where this is going if I keep post "opposite" impressions. I am just being honest that's all. Please enjoy your roxanne, JH13, or JH16.

I'm not really arguing just for the sake of an argument. I'm just trying to understand each impressions I read so I can relate it to my own experience. Not only for my own but everybody's benefit as well.

I get what you mean by house sound but it does not completely describe the actual sound signature of an iem which I think is more relevant especially for people who are deciding which iem to get.

It's just confusing that we are trying to discern how the Sound signature in terms of FR compares for each JH ciems only to tell in the end all JH ciems sounds the same. Don't you think it's confusing?

Different products from the same company can have differing frequency responses, but the house sound being similar (note I use the word similar, not same) is unique to that company only. E.g. Shure has a unique house sound in its line of IEMs, save for maybe the se846 being quite different. UM also has its own unique house sound in most of its IEMs. Same for FitEars which we all know is slight warm and mid-centric. And I can tell you my Tralucent Ref 1 share the same house sound as my 1plus2 even though their frequency responses have quite different emphasis. Ref 1's isobaric dynamic drivers give it a very strong and punchy bass unlike 1plus2. However, the house sound of Tralucent is both have very fast-paced bass. Ref 1 has very sweet and fuller mids and more tamed highs compared to 1plus2, but both are still very airy and ultra wide soundstage. Have you ever tried an IEM that has very strong bass presence and rumble that can shake the room like Roxanne and yet still sound very airy and spacious unlike the veiled closeness of Roxanne's mids/highs? Very impressive.

I never said all JH CIEMs sound the same, actually my above comment was only referring to the comment of "JH was trying to create a CIEM that has a different sound signature", All I wanted to say was roxanne is indeed a "JH sounding" product that's all :)

Same thing happens to

Earsonics, my SM3, EM32, EM3 and EM6. they all have similar house sound, and I still rate them differently in terms of performance because they do have pros and cons.

Tralucent audio: I own 1+2 and demoed ref.1, they are quite different in terms of energy distribution of different frequency bands, however the treble and overall tone is still similar rather than different.

Hidition

Spiral ear

And several others.

Anyways, I will do a detailed comparison of JH16, vs JH13 FP vs roxanne when I have time.

Here is my reaction:

Me:

Dear Angie,

I have asked repeatedly for an update on my order (now 7 months in) and have had no answer. Could you please let me know what is going on?

Regards,

Michael

Angie (answering after my third try, and after she committed a month before to ship at the end of May)

Your order has just finished the carbon fiber shell process and is now in the lab getting the components added and the finishing touches. It should only be a few more weeks.

Thanks,
Angie

Me (not in a good mood)

What !??? Are you kidding me !!??? IT SHOULD A FEW MORE WEEKS !??? You said end of May, and now at least end of June (if you actually deliver, and apparently you have no idea what is going on). So it will have been at least 7  months, and you are still delaying.

Now that really does it. I will tell you my honest opinion, and I am trying hard to be polite:
  • You have committed to something you had NO IDEA how to deliver in a reasonable delay, but yet you still took my 1.5K$ without a thought
  • All ensuing communications on the matter have been DISASTROUS:
  • Email answered once every three email
  • Many clumsy copy + paste used to answer emails
  • No clear communication on what is going on, no grasp of the situation
  • Complete lack of honesty on the delays

I own / have owned close to 10 high end CIEMS / iems and as many high end DAPs, and this Roxanne business is BY FAR MY WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE in the audiophile world.

Bar that, I manage a company of 50 people, and this is one of the worst interactions I have ever had in terms of transparency / honestly / process, including with clients / suppliers / employees !

The strict minimum in terms of RESPECT FOR YOU CUSTOMERS would have been to communicate clearly on the situation, both on the blogs (headfi mostly) and directly by email.

I hope I will FINALLY GET WHAT I PAID FOR SOON.

Michael
Mimoulle. I really feel for you. Just for future reference using caps in an email ALWAYS makes you look like a nutter! IMHO.
On another note. Anyone who orders from JHA after reading this thread is barking and /or knows what to expect.
I would say that the love affair between Headfi and JHA is now well and truly over.

Sound signature-wise, Roxanne=jh13=jh16.

The minute you put on Roxanne you know you are listening to a jh product."

Anyways. I know you get what I mean, I am not good at putting words together as a second language.

So let's just leave it like that.

I know what I am hearing from all my CIEMs (which are all functional perfectly). Although I wasn't a big fan of roxanne (only because I prefer much more neutral sounding), I do wish everyone enjoys it because it's definitely a unique sounding product.

I didn't know it could be reshelled? COOL.

Wow, I am lucky enough that Andrew asked me if I want my refund and my ear impression after I complaint and said the fact about the customer service, I will never buy Jh product anymore.

I haven't heard a shop yet that is reshelling Roxannes - I imagine it won't be an inexpensive proposition - Is your Roxanne CF? Might make a difference.

Does that mean JH doesn't do reshelling? Not that I'd want to wait for them to reshell anyway...
