Does pure BA-based IEMs need burn in? I remember reading somewhere saying that only dynamic drivers need burn in and BA drivers do not suffer from a lack of burn in performance.

For I will say here and now NO . And there post,s here agreeing with my statement . But as much as I am not a believer in this , I can say with my HE6 cans it did change to my ears. Over all I think it is our hearing that changes not the phones. As I mean when you first here music in a new set of can,s or IEM,S , there is a quick observation and then later on a permanent one. So like first impressions are not very accurate for me at least. I have spoken to a few revivers who totally agree with my idea in this.

I feel one thing that does benefit from burn in is the cables. There's also a warm up period to BAs until they get to their full potential.

If you here it , then something did happen and that is the truth. I can give you something you can try and post your results here . It's little off topic but it will help others here now as the rec there new IEM,S. . If you have more than one headphone or iem do this. Listen to one for about thirty min,s or so. Do not play the music very loud as this just,s flattens your herding. After about the time a looted , change to another pair. The change will be very apparent at first . This test is better to go from a brighter to a darker ear phone. But it does work both ways. Now once the second pair is on. Do your best to adjust the level to the same . You do not need to use a calibrated mic to adjust the levels in this . Now play the same music again. At forts the music will sound changed as different amounts of the levels of instruments and vocals will be very apparent . By the end of the 30 min,s though your brain will have made it's own adjustments and the drastic change heard at first will be gone. To me this is the burn in we all say we hear , and this is including me.

I have a few CIEMS . And I rotate them weekly or so , and this is what I have found with my brain and changing the cans or IEM,S . Food for thought.

Unless it's the only thing that your ears are connected to for the break in period, it's silly to think your ears adjust. If that were the case everything else would sound off. Yes you get used to things but if something gives a different impression when you first put it on than it did originally, it's likely changed. The ear adjusting to a long term change of perspective of a device is a rationalization for non-believers. There's as long a piece of wire in the BA itself as there is running up to it and there's bending bits and crossover parts as well. Lots of places for change to exist if it does. I kinda prefer the things don't change argument to the ears adjusting one. I'm done.

That's understood. Call it the hearing mechanism if you prefer. How does the song go? Can't have one without the other.
