What I mean is, Roxy's original FR curve already naturally has a +15dB bass. The bass EQ pot cuts it down to 0dB bass (neutral) when it is turned all the way down. So that means when the bass EQ pot is all the way up, it is not 'boosting' bass, but just returns it to what it normally will have.

In case you are still confused - it makes no difference functionally wise whether it is boosting 15dB bass from neutral, or cutting 15dB bass from bassy. There will still be a neutral and a bassy setting that you can play with.

In short, saying the glass is half empty is the same as saying the glass is half full.

FWIW - Just got this response form JH about my order.

Hi Bob,

Sit tight as they should be shipping. We are just waiting on cables at this time and completion of our carbon fiber cases (as they are VERY labor intensive). Not to worry, you are still the first 20 shipping. Your order # is 11402.

Thank you so much, Corbyn

So it's the cable holding them back and the CF option. I did not go for CF option so it's realistic to expect my Roxanne to be shipped by mid January.

Not necessarily related to the Roxanne's but, if I'm understanding you clearly, then say for example

I've been trying to decide between 13s and 16s, and initially I thought that, assuming all things equal but the bass, the 16s would be better as its better to eq down than eq up (13s less bass vs 16s more bass) however assuming everyone hung but the bass is the same then they're both equal after eq?

Trying to decide where to go from my 11s and while Roxanne's seem perfect with variable bass, I'm also a student on a budget smily_headphones1.gif

If the case is an issue to make, get them to thrown that away, i had look at it, not convenience to bring around for the case. Winding the wire also another troublesome thing.

You do have to take good care of Roxy, do you?  and besides, the case is actually no bigger than a 1010 so it should be fine.

It should just be as thick as the UM PP6.

I don't know if I will bring the case out lol. But the wire will be think unless it twist like the stock cable, if braid.. 7-8mm diameter?

read through 95 pages.. took a few days.. knew about the roxannes a while back but wanted to wait for impressins of which there are like 4 so far. JHA takes a little while to get into gear with a new line.. i ended up waiting 45 days for my 16s back in 2010.. didnt bite on the 3A because well... JH himself wasnt satisfied with the software engineering let alone the HW.. the product lost momentum and took far too long to get to market, too much of a closed system for relevancy. FreqPhase annoyed me because they wouldnt allow older customers retool (unless you broke your CIEMs). So im happy to say that the JHA Rx are on my list, after four years... i havent purchased a single headphone which speaks volumes to me.. so im excited but will wait patiently for another sale 1200+ is about right, i can pass on 1599 till theres another sale..

you dont need open mouth impressions dont let ppl fool you, just goto a respected ENT.. mine held a conversation with my while she took my molds (im inclined to think she did that on purpose) but my 16s fit fantastically, to the point where ive fallen asleep with them in several times with no issues in the morning or there after..

one quibble i have though is that connector.. he should have opted for a flat connecter something like that new ipone lightening connector (i know its modified usb, thats not what im alluding to so muc as the shape) but 4 contacts two on each side would have made the profile for the cable much smaller, and engineering a locking mechanism wouldnt be too difficult. just recess the female portion on the CIEM and use a plastic clip (think phone/lan cable but smaller) a circular and protruding connector seems as if it was an after thought.. i dunno its just out of place for me.

regardless FreqPhase and 3x4 is appealing enough to hop in for another 4 years...

to everyone still waiting and wondering, thats par for the course check the OG 13 and 16 threads.. it can take sometime. stay away from the 3A thread if you dont want to get depressed.. presumably they have gotten better wiith turn around being a larger company these days but.. its still JHA and they probably still have their quirks (attending shows and what not, taking days/week to answer emails)

You should have a listen to it though.  ClieOS mentioned that the 8C is better for him.

Just tried the Roxanne at Mook. So far I'm impressed. The bass boost really works well. At max bass attenuation setting the Roxanne is flat out neutral which is very relaxing and easy on the ears. At the least attenuated setting/ max bass boost it really make me feel want to rock. I like the energy and the tightness of the bass boost. It clearly does not affect the details on the mids and highs.

Noise isolation on universals really far from customs but the Universal Roxanne really sounded good on with ambient noise around.

I spoke to Jerry and he confirmed the Roxannes have a 5 to 6 weeks turn around time and they will offer a DIY cable kit sometime around spring.

Copy and paste my post at local forum This is my quick impression. I ordered the custom Roxanne during their BF sale and my main iem is FitEar TG!334: Auditioned the Roxanne earlier with bro Sid. He can't take the sibilance, but for me still ok coz I'm using HD800 and TH600 at home. Compared to my 334, I do find the Roxy bass hits harder, mids a bit recessed, especially the upper mids and the treble a bit rough and sharp. So if you like the smooth high of 334, this is definitely not the iem for you. It still maintains the aggressive nature of JH house sound in the top end. For smoother and extended treble, so far nothing can beat Uncle Wilson's C435, but I haven't heard the Noble's ciem, so can't comment on them. All IMO only, so feel free to disagree with me. Jerry was ever so helpful in answering my queries and he did answer that all orders for Roxy during the BF sale, will most prob ship out in mid or end Jan. That's all for now, time for me to disturb Taeyonie again :p
