Did you think it would make that much of a difference? I figured I'd prefer black, but those look REALLY nice to me.

I dunno, once you go Gun Metal Grey, you never go.. uh.. something something.

On the other hand I don't see the black looking too good with the XC wood cups.

I agree.  I like it with the Purple Heartwood cups on the XC especially.  If grey is out of stock, though, I'd probably be just fine with the black.  I'm impatient more than I'm fashionable. :)

Any experience out there driving the LCD-X with the Schiit Bifrost/A2 combination?

Thanks guys. Glad it was helpful! I am thinking of doing a followup Audeze LCD-X & Sennheiser HD800. What do you think?

^^ The diversity of those two hp, and the price point, would make for a good comparison.

Dan: Do your parents still listen to the LCD-2s? I may not be remember this correctly, but I think in one of your posts from a while ago you were describing how moved your parents were when they heard their favorite music over quality headphones for the first time....do they still enjoy using headphones?

Yes they do, every time they come to my place, especially my father. I think you were talking about this post. Really loved LCD-2!

I received my vegan LCD-X's last Thursday and I really like them. I'm still relatively new to high-end headphones so the only things I can compare them to are the Q701, my friend's HD598, and the A900x. The LCD-X's feel like a Q701 with oodles and oodles of bass. They're pretty clear sounding and the treble doesn't have the occasional piercing treble like the Q701 on certain songs. I amp the headphones with a wa22.

I listen to a lot of EDM, jpop, rock (AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, etc.), and a bunch of classical music. So this headphone really sounds AWESOME with 75% of what I listen to and the last 25% is just icing on the cake. This will be my all-rounder headphone for a while.

That's the main reason I bought them, even though at the time I didn't know the leakage characteristic of the XC...pure speculation that, I can say now with confidence, has paid off!

Thanks, the differences between the X and 3 don't justify (for me) getting one.

The XC may be perfect whenever I need to keep a quiet environment. Plus they look very nice.

Now this or the Alpha Dogs..... frown.gif

Yep! I love that picture, man...that's what it's all about...connecting with music we love!
