You have a few options to make the headphones much more comfortable.

1. order the LDC-4 carbon fiber headband from Audeze for $200

2. order a suspension strap from Lohb for ~$40

The offical Audeze carbon fiber headband looks much nicer and the lohb headband will take you a month to receive...

Average shipping time is 10 days.

For those that need a 2nd delivery attempt, it can be 14 days. If your strap took longer than 14 days it was sitting in local post office but I put instructions on how to retreive it at top of every tracking code at that point.

For straps that get stuck for deeper customs inspection, rarely it can be up to one month. Canada is worst for deeper customs inspections.

To keep total costs down, I use the cheapest reliable signed-for airmail service vs EMS (that would add another $15 or so on top.)

Tried these out today on a dedicated DAC + AMP in the shop, and then on my FiiO X5. I must say, for about 2000$.. Not impressed. There's not that greater difference in sonic capabilities than my Fidelio X2.

Sure it's more mature and resolving, and more balanced, but still... Not worth that much money imho.

Go ahead! Attack me! Bash me! Let me know the AMP sucked!  Just saying what I heard. :)

I think most of us have accepted that as we go higher and higher in improving SQ, there are diminishing returns. If you don't think the value is there, that's certainly a valid opinion.

Now, get him!! Tar and feather! Tar and feather, him!! :-)

Okay I will bite but I wont be bashing :P

1.. We are all well aware of the idea of diminishing returns. Sure the LCD-X will not sound 10 times better than a headphone that costs 170. No one expects that.

2.. As for demoing, I personally don’t believe you can truly appreciate the difference in audio products after just sitting with them for a few min/hours. You need to allow your brain to adjust to what it is hearing etc. This alone may take a few days. It sounds like you caught some of the advantages of the LCD-X right away and over time those advantages that seem small will become much more noticeable. Sort of like when you notice an issue with your screen on your phone or tv.. I mean you could have gone days or years without noticing the issue but once you saw it, or it was pointed out… YOU CANT UNSEE IT.. This is also true in audio.. Once you adjust to better sounding products the differences become more pronounced and noticable.

3.. Even after that, these headphones may not just be for you no matter what. Just because they are expensive doesn’t mean you have to love the sound. Hell my wife can’t tell the difference between her Samsung earbuds (the ones that came with her phone) and any headphone I show her. (I have owned more than I can recall) “lol” Of course she can’t tell when she is watching non-HD on our HD TV either.

I think that if I auditioned the Xs in a shop for just a few minutes, I might not have gotten them.  To my ears, they're influenced by choice of source and definitely choice of cable.  I wouldn't sell them now for a minute.  But, that's my story, not anyone elses.  If they're not for you, that's a legitamite oppinion.  I hope you find something satisfying.

I listened to the LCD-X in a shop for about 30-45 minutes and bought them on the spot. I thought they were that good.

Saw Audeze new LCDX ads, anyone heard this new revision? To make matters worse, it's rev 72.6801-A3 ??!? Wtf? Did Audeze just hired a household appliance person for its marketing team?

To add my two cents and not get too technical about it:

With Audeze cans, especially with LCD-X, i can hear much more than with any other headphones i've heard. It's not all about tonal balance as it's more about their presentation of musical dynamics.

Or maybe i have to try Fidelio X2 then.

EDIT: Ok, i just heard Fidelio X2 at the store - LCD-X is miles ahead

agree, i have both and there really is no comparison between these cans at all... unfortunately too because as he said the X2 is much much cheaper would be nice if it somehow sounded as good.

ever since having neck disc fusion surgery 6 months ago i have hardly put my X or XC on instead using my MHP1000 just because of the weight differential.  today i fired up my WA7 and the LCD-X and wow it is amazing what i have been missing the past months.  gotta get that upgraded carbon fiber and get these things back in action.  the neck is starting to finally feel once again useful and not so fragile.  just not sure if wearing heavy headphones will do more help then hurt long term...

I am selling a Violectric V200 amp, fantastic pairing with the LCD-X.

$650 USD includes shipping and paypal fees to anywhere.

Thanks

I'm a little puzzled.  I was under the impression the LCD-X was born with Fazor technology.

I also have the same understanding.

If you run your fingers against the inside of the pads where the thin see-through cover is, can you feel ridges like a washboard? If so, that's the fazor.

See this diagram.
