Audeze LCD-X - Page 35

Audeze says there's personalized fr charts for the LCD-Xs via the support on their site.

i dont know why, they never reply my request via email. I have to call them for support every time.

Any first impressions? I'm particularly curious About whether it still has that wall of sound effect
post #514 of 8778

If by wall of sound you are referring to how the LCD2 can sound conjested, then the X does not have that. It doesn’t have that tactile sound and grunt of the 2s but I wouldn't expect it to with the increased separation. X sounds more refined.

This is all based on only a few hours of listening.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

It may just be me, but does it seem as though it's like pulling teeth to try to get some feedback on these phones? lol

I keep thinking I need both the X and the XC. "Need" being a very loose term here. LOL.

But then again I think with that kind of money I can dabble in Stax Omega territory. A SR-0007 Mk2 + 727. Decisions, decsions... Any 007MK2 owners order the X?

Have you actually tried stax before to make sure you like them?

Oh I did, the MK1 007 was glorious. Haven't heard the Mk2 though. I hear the Mk2 is the worst Omega, but I still find it intriguing, more than the SR-009 because i hate bright headphones.

One thing I know is that I refuse to buy an expensive amp for the Omega. No Blue Hawaii or Liquid Lightning 2, etc. I'm just going to drive it with a 727 for the forseeable future. Not because I don't believe in the Blue Hawaii, but becuase I'm too poor.

I think head-fiers are being uncharacteristically restrained as new LCD-X owners clearly do not wish to rush to judgment. It spells the dawn of a new era of sober reflection in these forums. Rejoice, hype and FOTM are things of the past! tongue.gif

If you're going 007, go with the proper one, the MK1. The MK2s are much darker and less transparent and I personally think they a class down from the MK1.

I ordered my LCD-X from www.audeze.com on October 27.  They were delivered today, November 1.

Initial impressions...comparing to Ultrasone ED-8.  The LCD-X are my first open cans, I don't have any other open cans to compare with the LCD-X.

1. Heavy and not comfortable on the head.

2. Have to remove the cables to store the cans in the travel case.

3. Great sound and sound stage - the sound easily beats the ED-8 in all respects.

I listened to a wide range of familiar music...Alan Jackson, Queen, Yes, Mozart, Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Adele, Journey, Beatles, Bela Fleck, Billy Cobham, SRV.  The LCD-X sound better than the ED-8 on all.  I was more impressed with the male voices than the female voices.  The sound seems more impressive on music that has a wide tonal range, like jazz, instead of pure rock.

Great bass, wide soundstage, nice mids and treble.  I hear music that I've never heard before.  I am impressed so far.

Simple comments, but I wanted to share my experience.

All the best -

Thanks RCBinTN for your first impression.

Looks like LCD-X's transducer is a truely breakthrough product.

Can't wait mine to arrive.
