yeah, grado's are kinda unique, people tend to love them, or hate them, and the grado and audeze's are pretty much opposites in character to me.

grado's are what i started with, and very much preferred them to the lcd2 when i had them, but then i got the lcd x, and they blew me away !,

but i still have my grado's, but the X gets the majority of head time

oh, i will say i heard a newer lcd2 at a meet a couple of weeks ago, that i liked much better than the one i had

Well anything a person could get into costs money and especially to get the good stuff. For instance the Nikon 400mm telephoto I am lusting after only cost $12000... And that is just one lens. Flats fishing boats, a really nice one you are looking around 85 grand. So a few thousand on really nice hifi gear is really not too bad at all. Compared to photography, it is a screaming bargain trust me.

Oh, jeez.  Other hobbies.  Don't get me started on fountain pens or telescopes!

More topically, I've been doing considerable listening of the X vs. XC on the Dangerous Source (using the on-board amp), and I strongly prefer the X, especially in its presentation of the mids.  The XC also seemed to get a bit warbly in the higher vocal range, at times, which I found strange.  The X is quite solid on the Dangerous Source -- maybe not *quite* as warm out of the amp as I might prefer, compared to some of the other amps I've experienced, but it's very good.

no regrets either ! lol  ;)

And being the one who bought your PS1000s (sound great on my GS-XMK2/Bryston BDA-2)....that said, I'd still take the LCD-Xs over them.

Sorry, this is a hobby that I truly don't understand...at least with this place we have music....wet shaving yields a smooth face? Sorry, music for the win. :p

yes you are good sir !

i might take another swing at the ps1k's , if i ever let the lcd x go, and spend more time with it

i just knew if i kept the ps1k too long, i might end up with the it and the X, and my conscience (and my wife) would have a problem with 2 headphones at that price ! lol

Cool! Would be interesting what you think about them MH.  I know I was overly critical when I first heard the GS/PS1000...now I think, perhaps they make a much better low volume can when the loudness contour kicks in and a boosted bass and treble is called for?  Though they won't be on par in overall transparency with Audeze cans IMO.
