Anyway I just ordered a pair of the new LCD-3's with Fazor drivers, should have them Tuesday to check them out.

Wow, great.

Looking forward to your comparison against the X.

Looking good there, @rudi0504 !

Just curious, why do you prefer to use portables to drive your headphones (even your Abyss cans)?

LCD X pairs really well with Mass KoBo 394.With LCD XC and stock cable, i feel it's a touch bright. Switching to Endorphin, LCD XC sounds gorgeous with MK 394. You should have a lot of fun with it.

Congrats for your SAA Endorphin cable
I am happy you like the cable too
Thank you for your advise

So far, I have about 200 hours on the Endorphin and prefer it with the XC, with the LCD X it's just a touch laid back for me. I have also have a Double Helix Complement 3 on order, so be a interesting comparison when it comes in about 7 weeks time.

I have posted this in LCD3 thread, but I think nothing is wrong if I repost here.

Comparison between LCD-X and LCD 3F:

It's really a nice improvement in 3F compare to original LCD3, same sweet magical midrange but with far better (also bigger in this case) imaging and soundstage. The 3F sounds clearer too without being thin or cold at all. Tonality wise I think people will still recognize 3F as LCD3.

Compare to LCD-X is a bit hard as they have different flavor, the X has clearer, more neutral presentation and tonality, wherea in 3F they blend everything with honey added. Soundstage wise X has more airy feeling and better room ambience, wherea 3F is slight narrower with more intimate presentation.

With my own preference both LCD with Fazor is clear improvement over the original LCD 3
