Audeze LCD-X - Page 241

the user could have sent a plastic figure (10 cents) with the product name Audeze LCD-X to another address. Does the tracking number have information of the the exact address where it will arrive?

No the post office couldn't tell me the exact address for some reason. But the seller confirmed he sent it to my address too so I'm not sure what could have happened at this point

Anyway going back to the post office to see what they've got to say today.

Is there any legitimate reason a legitimate seller would insist on paypal friends and family?  Sounds like it must be a scammer, but I may be missing something.

Because I had no previous trader feedback and he said he was afraid I would just get the headphones and take my money back. The only reason I agreed to do it too was because he did have positive trader feedback

Hm, how hard is trader feedback to fake?  Probably pretty easy.

Red flag!!!!

There's no extra risk to him accepting your payment that way when he doesn't know you...the only thing it does it charge him (or you) a small percentage. The whole purpose of paypal was to protect both buyer and seller from fraud.

If he refunded a 'goods' payment and demanded a F&F payment, I'm betting you got scammed. He didn't want you to have the recourse available through paypal when he didn't send the product.

My SYS is on the way--gonna have to work on some incesty puns. You just finished shooting the ********, huh?  Another secret product that must be due soon. Maybe a BRO, like a SYS with balanced ins and outs? How about an analog reverb unit--that adds sweet reverb to all your music. :p

+1 - agreed.  most normal people wouldn't even know there difference does or does not allow that sort of refund. that he called it out specifically as a requisite is a little too telling. there is no way anyone would send 1700 in anything without at the very least confirmed delivery address with tracking.

Yeah...this gets worse and worse...there is no way to 'take your money back' once you send it.

Please disclose the name of the sender so others don't fall victim.

But if they were never sent, then why does the Post Office have a record of their delivery (even though they haven't actually been delivered to the correct address yet)?

Sorry to hear about your situation, goldendarko. Hope everything works out for you.

I picked up my LCD-X today. I demoed them with a Theorem 720 and was hearing all sorts of things I've never heard before. I alternated between the LCD-X and my HE-500 during the demo. I was pleased with the HE-500 until I heard the same songs on the LCD-X. Much clearer on the LCD-X and the bass weight is so much greater.

When I got them home, I tried them with Uberfrost > Lyr and had the same experience -- hearing new parts of songs, goosebumps, etc. I'd be content with Uberfrost/Lyr had I not ordered Gungnir/Mjolnir. Looking forward to hearing how G/M change things once they arrive.

Undecided as to whether I'm going to keep the HE-500. Planning on waiting until the glow wears off before deciding, but right now, I'm not sure I'll ever reach for the HE-500.

If you paid via credit card, you can do a chargeback. I'm really sorry to hear of your troubles. Makes me feel very uneasy and it isn't even happening to me. I'd cry. Good luck to you, but it does sound like a scam.

Unfortunately it was a trade for my sennheiser HD-800's with custom headphone lounge cable and also $450 cash via paypal friends and family. Now the seller is telling me he can't find the receipt which would prove there was insurance and signature confirmation. If he can't prove that he held up his end of the bargain unfortunately this ordeal may need to go to court because neither he nor the USPS want to take responsibility for the missing package.

I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound here but why would you ever send a payment to anyone you don't actually know via the personal/F&F method in Paypal?  You give up all forms of buyer protection when paying that way.  It clearly shows in huge bold red letters at the top of the for sale forum not to do so as well, for this exact reason.

The excuse the seller gave you in his attempt to persuade you to send the payment via F&F, that you don't have any buyer/seller feedback here on head-fi, should have been a major warning sign.  If he was truly concerned about protection on his end then he would have requested the exact opposite of this.  As long as the package is sent fully insured with signature confirmation the seller is completely covered throughout the selling process via Paypal.  Then he goes and sends it USPS instead of UPS or FedEx which is another huge mistake.  The tracking system afforded by USPS is garbage in comparison with UPS and FedEx.  The only way to ever ship something of high value via USPS is through their Registered Mail option.  It requires for every handler to sign for the package along the way as it changes hands.  Even then the tracking is crap but you are completely covered through Registered Mail.

I sincerely hope you paid for this via credit card and not a bank transfer.  If so I would initiate the chargeback immediately.
