You have quite the awesome collection of gear. I just picked up a pair of lcd-2s myself, you think they are that much of an improvement? You got me rethinking my purchase!

Sounds like you think the 'X' is reasonably good figaro biggrin.gif

When you've got time I'd like to hear how they sound with the Taboo popcorn.gif

It's not close...they are more expensive, though!

The taboo is next in line...I'm afraid that tubes will make them cross the line and get closer to the LCD-3 in sound (i.e., lush; from what I've heard, since I have never owned or listened to the LCD3s).  But since everything sounds great out of the Taboo, I wouldn't be surprised if the LCDXs shine with them too.

...Figaro is in a trance...in ecstasy!

Congrats on the purchase! So you say you like them or something? :)) Just kidding. I love them too :D

Very nice impressions!

My feeling is ... it will depend on the tubes. The Taboo can sound anywhere between neutral to warm to bright. I quite like the 6p15p (milspec bit better than stock) for headphones like Audeze and something like the USAF-596 rectifier with an Amperex 6922 driver.

Man you're killing me. Two Audeze already and now I'm gonna have to buy these.

Nice, honest impressions, I must say

Funny thing is I was listening for a couple hours last night to the LCD-Xs. It was like an out of body experience at times, and the thought crossed my mind "Can it get much better than this?"  I actually lost track of time. I was hesitant to go too gushy on Head-Fi, but then read your post and thought I would join you.

Yes...and I have a bunch of tubes to play around with.  By the way, my taboo is the older version; it does not use a 6922 driver tube; it uses those 12AXT-variant tubes.

So you understand what I am saying...my initial impressions/review are not hyperbolic; they are pure and simple reality.  These stand head and shoulders above every other pair of headphones I've listened to in my life.

You have quite a large headphone collection! Once you get them, I would love to see how they stack up against the rest you've heard.  THIS IS A MASTERPIECE...and made in America, to boot...who would've thunk it!  The land of the consumer rather than the producer making the best pair of headphones the world has to offer.  America is back on track! There is no stopping us now (well, maybe I am going a little bit overboard now!)

I have tried to reach Audeze over the last couple days, via email and by phone. No one picks up the phone ("due to high caller volume"), nor has anyone returned my call or email, which is somewhat unusual for them. They may be getting overwhelmed with orders, requests, etc. :happy_face1:
