The graph really doesn't mean much to me.  I listen with my ears, generally... I just posted it to keep the enthusiasm going. :)

And that is the only way. Too many people put emphasis on graphs when in reality the graphs only describe the top-level picture of the sound you can expect.

Great observation Daniel. I know people like to dimiss graphs but... I think your observations are on target and I also see it as well.

This would explain what people are hearing. 10k to 20k is "air". A lift in between 2k to 5k would be the very apparent creating a sense of "openess". Dips at 8k don't really matter. People don't hear dips in 8k. And much better than a spike there. LOL.

Thank you.

Exactly my thoughts. I think that treble contains the most reflective sound waves, thus creating the sense of space, room delimitation and air.

I just got these. Coming from hd650s - using a burson 160ds amp. Recently upgraded my amp and was surprised how much better it sounded compared to my old one (audio-gd compass). So I decided had to upgrade my headphones.

The 8 foot cable length is not good. What aftermarket cables would you guys recommend? what material?

Forza audio works ..makes good quality cables and are inexpensive.

I have both my LCD X and XC recabled with Q Audio silk cables.  They sound (and look) fantastic!

Any impressions of the Q cables vs stock cables? I`m researching the aftermarket cable scene for cables for my soon to come LCD-Xs :) As of now I`ve read good things about Double Helix Complement2 cables :)

Double Helix is running a 20% off Black Friday sale too on the Complement2's, might be a good time to pick them up if you are considering those. I've read great things as well on them, may get them for the LCD-X.

I know :D I`ve e-mailed Peter today with some questions :)

Er.  I've never listened to the LCD-X with the stock cable, since I already had the Q Audio cable for my now sold LCD 2.2.  That said, I found that there was not a huge difference in the sound between the aftermarket cable and stock with the LCD 2.2s.  Any differences were at the margins.  A tad more bass.  A tiny bit more instrument separation.  Maybe a bit more open soundstage.  But all of these changes were only noticeable with very careful listening.  For casual listening, which is what I do 99% of the time, I would not have noticed the difference.  As ever, YMMV.

You can't say such things without photos... it's just not fair on us mortals! :-)
