Audeze LCD-X - Page 102

Barry thanks for the feedback on bass department ;-)

As i understand in reading several reviews of the LCD3 bass has more body, and its the most life like and true to the instrument.

Where as the LCD X is the neutral headphone with the most bass slam.

Please enlighten me if I'm wrong, I'm a little bit confused here.

Which has the most natural cymbals ? LCD3 or LCD X

Zildjian. :)

My take is that the -X would sound more natural in the cymbal crash register range.

I like every aspect of the LCD-X bass more than the LCD-2 and LCD-3.  The LCD-3 strikes me as more-mid-centric than the LCD-X, so that may be coloring my perception of the bass. Cymbals sound very crisp and natural on the LCD-X, but also very good on the LCD-3--can't pick one without A/B-ing them. The LCD-X has a very neutral sound with a focus on well-controlled bass and detailed treble. The LCD-3 mids seem a bit more etched and richer at the expense of overall balance.

Since I started this thread and the Holidays are upon us wouldn't it be nice of Audeze to gift me a pair of LCD-X's?

I think everybody's wallets would rather run you out of town on a rail right after a good tarring and feathering. biggrin.gif

+1

Thats one fine gentleman's term.

I think im gonna get an x soon...

The lcd-3 has less punch in the bass but more subbass however, its generally light and not enough to be worth the trade off. And the mids i find a little too rich and warm very tubelike and analog. I preferred the lcd-2 sound for most things, so maybe i should get the x.....

The he-6 imo still has the best bass. Some find it lacking in omph or bloom but its strong enough and the bass is very tight very tactile and very deep and controlled. It does it better than any headphone ive heard. The lcd x and lcd-2 come close. Personally the lcd-3 has a more colored more smoother bass response. Its not as accurate though but more organic sounding

If anyone cares, I posted some unboxing pics here: https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A5532ODWX4T1U

I got them a little while ago, and I haven't had a chance to listen.  I'll post a mini-review some time this week. :)
