Audeze LCD-X - Page 80

R1 and R2 is not a business case at all. It´s all about music listening with variations.

X and XC is as mentioned just having different ´phones where one is closed. TH-900 is not my favorite - and the XC will be my go-to headphone when the house is crowded with activity. :)

When I heard them in the noisy room that was RMAF, I felt they were sub par at isolation.  In my home, my wife has to yell quite loudly to get me to hear her when I have the XC's on.

I wonder if you heard the Vali with the lcd-x...

I have…any questions about the pair?

One would assume from your review that the only significant difference you found between the X and XC was that the soundstage of the XC was narrower, but that otherwise all of your praise for the X goes to the XC as well?  And how was the comfort......weight and clamping force of the XC?

Oh, one other thing.....comfort-wise, were the weight and/or  clamping force of the XC an issue for you? They are the heaviest Audeze model.

Neither one bothers me…but neither did the 2's when many others said they did.  I must have a strong neck from carrying my thick skull.

For the most part, the praise does cross between the two.  I'll have to go back and forth and really listen to the differences before I can properly enumerate them.

Sure, I wonder what your impression of the pairing was and whether you found it to be a good match.

thanks...

Question about cables. The X is my first Audeze. I have been listening with the stock cable. What other cables do people recommend? I am aware of Audeze cables made by Moon (Silver Dragon?), Alo (Green, 8, 16, and S&P), Cardas, Q, and Toxic. My hope is that I can get a very perceptible upgrade over the stock cable for less than $400 (5-6 feet). Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Much like the magni, I spent a day processing photos and listening to the Vali>LCD-X.  I never found it lacking, but never really listened critically enough to make a real decision about the pairing.  It sounded good, but I never found myself pulled away from the task at hand.  The Vali will absolutely drive the X's louder than comfortable.  I don't think it will drive them to the level that would justify the price spent on the X's.

I like the Norse Cable offerings.

I would not look for a "very perceptible upgrade" with a cable, unless you mean with regard to flexibility and usability. I have a Q Audio cable that I absolutely love. But most of the difference lies in:

*custom length

*flexibility

*looks

The Q Audio cable is fantastic and worth every penny IMO. Just don't look for any cable to make a huge difference in the sound signature of a hp.

I like Norse also but there is some issue going on with the company. I don't know if this is resolved yet or not.

I would check the Toxic Cables too. I found differences in more than looks, flexibility and custom length....
