Hey, i just got the new X1 and they are amazing, but i still use my onboard sound, therefore i really need a good source for my headphones. What do you prefer for me?

My music-genre: Pop-Rock/Indie Pop/Indie Rock/Dubstep/RnB.

My budget: 120€(If needed 180€)   162$/243$

Thanks a lot!

Yes, but it sounds rival $1000 setup.  Since your budget is so close to it's asking price, I think you really should either save up or hunt for discount and get it.

FiiO e17 should fit within your budget.

What do you think about the FiiO E07k?

ClieOS rated its headphone amp a couple of notches down from the E17 in his ranking--after the reviews at the bottom of this post.

Are the O2+ODAC a overkill for the X1? If they are fine, where should i order these? (I live in Germany)

+ How is the Schiit Magni/Modi?

The ODAC/O2 is an excellent setup. Epiphany Acoustics in the UK sells it.

The Schiit Modi/Magni is of comparable equality and cheaper, but may not be for you depending on shipping.

Both of these setups are a good step up from the FiiO E17 (and certainly the E07k).

Sorry for asking, but how can i connect everything, which cable do i need?

Depends. With the ODAC/O2 combined unit, all you need is a mini USB cable, and I think it normally comes with it. Figure out what you are going to buy first smily_headphones1.gif

Just make sure you have enough power from your USB hub, as I ran into issues with DAC that didn't mount correctly in Windows due to lack of power.

O2/ODAC at epiphany-acoustics seems pretty nice and it has everything you will need. But it will cost me 233€. Is it really worth it?
