New Ultrasone Edition 5 hinted in the Fujiya Avice Autumn Festival 2013 - Page 20

I bought ED5 for traveling and isolation, and like them a lot. They are Very very detailed and comfortable.

But...I had to return them due to bad MMCX connection ! It seems now to be fixed, but if this hapend again, I will hard wire my WiWires red cable to remove the MMCX from the signal path.

When you say fixed, do you mean just that they shipped you a new ED5, and it seems okay?

Was the problem in the connector on the headphones or the connector on the cable side?

they did not replaced the headphone, just fixed it: the problem was on the connector of the headphone, not on the cable.

I see.  Thanks for info.  Yeah, I don't know why Ultrasone chose to go with this type of connector on all their newer (not to mention super expensive) headphones when it is so flaky.  The screw-on types used with the Pro series was much better.  Heck, even the interlock ones used on the Signature series are more reliable.

Well... warranty will not prevent you to have to send it back every few months for fixing this plug issue 😁
