Need Help Finding Headphones

Thread Starter

Hi, my headphones broke recently so I need to get another pair. I'm looking for a pair for less than $120. I would be using them for gaming, music and videos, and will be using them outside so please no bulky headphones. Also, my brother won't let me get the Audio-Technica M50's because he wants them so don't suggest those. Thanks!

What exactly will the headphones be plugged into?

Does it matter if the headphones are open or closed?

Since he wants to go outside I would assume he would want closed and probably a mobile player or smartphone. Since he would also use for gaming I would go with the V-moda Crossfade LP if you like Bass ( also good for gaming I assume ) or if not the bassheavy I would say the crossfade M-80 ($150). While the LP some might think they look bulky I don't but that's just my opinion. with the V-moda headsets you can also buy a accessory called the BoomPro Microphone which can be plugged into the headphones which is a mic and then plug into your device as a mic or into an included splitter that could then be put into the mic and headphone jacks on your pc

Also for the price I personally do like the Soul SL150 at currently $76 on amazon for the white pair which sounds pretty good for that price imo and it is a lot smaller and does fold like the rest of the "Cool" brands

Thanks Closingracer! PurpleAngel, they will be plugged into my phone and computer, and I'd prefer them to be closed.

honestly if he wanted to go for those I would then spend another $100 (new) or $36 or so more for a used pair of V-moda crossfade M-100, The M-100 from reviews I read are a little less bassheavy ( They still are basshead headphones) but are more controlled bass and the highs and mids are much better in the M-100. I Love V-moda even if the Sound Quality might not be worth the price but the Build quality and the 1 or 2 year warranty  and the lifetime immortal warranty where they will replace it with a new pair for 50% off is enough to pay the hefty price tag of the headphones

Get the M80, Citiscape Uptown, or MDR 7506.  All are equals of the M50.

I would then say the M-80 for sure 500% IF you can find it at your local radioshack .... They were selling them for around $40 bucks which is quite a steal

What do you think has better sound quality and is more comfortable, over-ear or on-ear. If it's over ear I'll try to get the V-moda Crossfade LP's for a decent price. If it's on-ear, I'll most likely go for the M-80's. Thanks!

I personally prefer Over-ear as more comfortable but from reviews I read and watched on youtube the M-80 Which is on ear do feel comfortable as well.

To put it relative to the M-80 multiple reviews said they could forget they had the M-80's on their heads but every head is different so I would suggest going to like BestBuy and trying on the Beat solo HD's which are On-ear headphones and see how comfortable they are on your head

I've tried on the two different kinds and I thought that the over the ear headphones were more comfortable, but I only tried them on for a minute or less. Does the over-ear headphones extra weight hurt over long periods of time? The ones I tried on are Sony DJ headphones (on-ear) and a Sennheiser over-ear headphone.

I personally find over ear more comfortable then on ear headphones... I have the v-moda crossfade lp and like them and feel a lot more comfortable then the on ear headphones that I have tried on

I had a pair of Sennheiser over ear (hd419) and soul sl150 (they were 60 bucks so why not try them out) and the clamping force on those just hurt and we're on ear headphones. Mind you the crossfade lp are heavier then the Sennheiser Hd419 but at the same time it feels light on your head (at least for me)

Okay, cool. I might want to get the V-Moda Crossfade LP's then, and also the BoomPro Microphone sounds like a cool idea. They have a pretty good price on amazon right now. How much did you pay for them?

The V-moda Crossfade LP's were Rogue color and coste me $109.70 before taxes but the Phantom Chrome color been going between $100 and $106 every few hours. you can also buy the mic on amazon as well I believe and it does come with a splitter so you can plug the headphones in the headphone slot and mic slot

Also I Would suggest really Burning them in

Off topic but I do love seeing that Ad for the "new" Dr Dre beat studios lol
