Thank god.
I have been ampless for a WHOLE WEEK

Definitely great news! I'm sure I'm not the only one who was perplexed at how they could just say, "oh well...sorry!" and not have to reimburse you for the damage they caused.

So now you get to buy new stuff!!!

Great news.  Maybe its the website bringing the karma.

Just received HD800 "refurb" from Crutchfield,

BTW with intact 2 yr warranty.  Could not have gone better, fast delivery and a "refurb" that looks very new, not a scratch on it, box is new, and absolutely no wear even the manual is new and unopened in plastic. :D

$1100, since used on eBay routinely sell for >$1000 did not seem too bad a deal.  I just posted on the "Deal thread."

Last night they were still listed, just checked and now low stock.

Congrats! Those are fantastic phones...let me know how they like the Meier stack! I believe Jan's two favorite headphones are the T1s and the HD800s, IIRC...so I expect it'll be a great pairing

I was born in Heidelberg, but my Dad was in the US Army (conscripted) so my Mom joined him there.  Dual citizenship till 18yo so maybe I'm just reaching out to my roots.

I was very interested to find out that my great, great, great grandfather (I think it was x3, but don't quote me) Johann Engel Zeppenfeld emigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania sometime between 1839 and 1860. So I have to admit that buying gear from Jan and headphones from Beyerdynamic have a little more significance to me than some other gear.

Please thank your father for his service, by the way. I come from a family of veterans dating back to WWI and I have tremendous respect for all those who sign up to protect us.

+1. My dad served and brother in law in serving in Afghanistan now. Many thanks to all those who protect this country.

I meant that more in jest, a lot of my recent gear purchases have been German in origin.

The dual citizenship issue was a running joke in the family.  Not a big matter until I applied for a passport after 911.  Then I could have used a citizenship separation thread. It took me a year to get a passport!

Ouch. That would be a hassle
