Best Options for 2.1 Systems???

Hey guys, I'm a noob in the audiophile world but I've got a pretty decent ear, and I need your help. I'm trying to get a new 2.1 system for my on-campus apartment for college. I'm currently looking at some logitechs, altec lansings, and a couple others but I don't know about their sound quality. I listen to almost every genre, but I listen mainly to classic rock, edm, classical, alternative, house, and everything in between. Please help, guys!!!

Current speaker setup: Altec Lansing ACS41 (2.0, from the Gateway 2000 era. They are pretty awesome by the way; their sound quality is still good. If possible, I could also use help in getting a sub for these two speakers)

Thanks, guys!

For under $100, get a used Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

Sell off the Altec Lansing.

Good to know, PurpleAngel, thanks!

cel4145, the absolute maximum I'd spend for a new set of computer speakers would be around $300, but even then, I'd still want to spend less than $200 or even $140 if possible.

Here's what I'm currently looking at, for example (not sure of their sound quality):

Well, the quality does scale up more with spending say $200 over $75. I'm not familiar with the Altec Lansing ACS41, but I would bet you wouldn't have to spend a lot more to improve upon them.

You can get a $100 sub to go with that and have a better setup than spending the same amount on desktop multimedia speakers. smily_headphones1.gif
