Chi-Uni-Fi 7.5 - Chicago Area Meet - Nov 2nd - Page 4

i won't be making this one lads but it would have been cool to compare the LCD-X and XC with other gear to see how they respond. I might have to invite radio_head over one day and we can have our own mini meet and commiserate. Have a blast and don't get too wasted on the koolaid ..dB

U can add my headphones to my gear list, as i will bring them as well.

I hope i have time to organize my hard drives and get my laptop setup. Gotta make audiophile playlists as well since people always ask for reference stuff.

I will definitely bring the Master 8 amp.  I can also bring my little FiiO E17\E09 DAC\Amp combo if anyone is interested in that.

Additional headphones for my list:

Audeze LCD-X  ( have been promised delivery in time for the meet )
V-Moda M-100

Was unable to get a pair of Alpha Dogs delivered in time :(.  Demand for those things is apparently through the roof.  Does anyone else attending have a pair of these they can share ( he asked hopefully) ?

To our Wisconsin friends: make sure to travel to the main ChiUniFi meets in the summers, which are on the North Side (in Northbrook, much closer to y'alls) and bigger, too.  That doesn't mean you can't come to this .5 as well, but I wanted to make sure you knew of the opportunity.

Sadly, I'm going to have to cancel my RSVP for the upcoming meet.  Keith and all of you lovely headfi geeks, I'm sorry!  (More for myself, of course.)

You should call up stereodesk & see if they have stock on-hand.  It's hard to tell from their site if they stock separately from MrSpeakers or if the same lead time applies for every order, but it appears that they're at least taking online orders.  Who knows, might get you ahead in the queue if they already have a general stocking order placed.

Could someone maybe PM or give a list of good reference music to have loaded up on the laptop?

Thanks in advance

Didn't even know about stereodesk, may try that.  Thanks!

BMC Puredac landed today. Starting the breakin process. Right now I have Balanced HE500 on the balanced out and using the RCA outputs into the RSA Raptor with HD600.

Hey Everyone,

Double checked with the room manager the other day, and we're all set.

I got to borrow my friends HE-400's for the meet.  I'm spending some time with them on my head right now.  They are really excellent cans.  Having also spent time with the 500's, I think I actually like these better.  an odd revelation indeed, but one I look forward to confirming or denying at the meet with the 500's that will be there.

If anyone has any last minute questions, please post them now.  also, if you need to update your attendance, please do that as well.  looks like we'll have a nice mix of "old" and new members.  which is always the best mix.

I will be bringing along the HE-400's with the magni/modi stack.  and I will also have the RSA Lightning to run the 400's.  A nice pairing indeed.  still deciding on how I want to handle the source.

Fraggler - would you by chance have a RSA balanced connector to 1/4 inch SE adaptor?

I can easily make one, though you might want to double check that the Lightning can handle it.  I know for some balanced amps, joining the grounds can do damage to the amp.
