Yeah they retail for $310. I had a pair for a while. They do have boosted bass but not SB500 level.

Have you considered EQ? Assuming that your player has a proper equalizer.

I've been playing around with car audio for 6 years. At first I used a lot of lower powered subwoofers and amps. Then I tried a higher powered set up with an SQL subwoofer. Now after jerking around with it for 3 years of constantly changing my set up. I learned what I like. Also I learned what my ears hear and what they like.

I am currently building a SQL. Because it seems to be the best of both worlds. But its ridiculously low end focused.

If I were smarter. I would just build my own pair of headphones.

I used to use a CMoy amp for them. But like I stated. These are on the go. 99% of the time I am listening to them it is at work on break. They go in and out of my locker. So I didn't like carry extra stuff. It was annoying.

MORE bass than a XB500 on a cMoy BB...good luck with that >.>

and nice on the car audio. I've found the HE 400 is the closets to SPEAKER bass I have heard, although it still doesn't put that KICK in ur chest like a sub will

Ok. Got my answer. Going to pick up another pair of the 500s. Mine are getting really beat up and the cable has cuts in it. So I might retire them to strictly at the computer or something.

Car audio is my true hobby. Sub stage is 2 12s on an RD 7500.1 at 1/2 an ohm. I haven't finished yet. But I plan on giving each 12 about 3-3500RMS for daily music.

I wasn't talking about an amp though. Does your player, whatever it happens to be, have an equalizer? Most "bass boost" presets sound like crap to my ears because they boost everything below 1000hz as opposed to just below 200hz like it's supposed to be, but many players have a proper multi-band EQ and if you have a smart player capable of apps you can get pretty good EQ apps. Then you could give your XB500's even more bass lol

Ipod has EQu and android has Poweramp. They both work tremendously well.  The xb500's bass is unfocused, so it wont have as much pure impact as something like the m100 or ath ws99 who distribute the bass correctly.  I say you give the ws99 a chance, since its bass impact is about the same as the xb500's, though it makes the xb500 sound like garbage (not an exaggeration).  The ws99 has the best bass a closed headphone can give you (granted at the price of below $400).  If somehow it isn't enough bass, use EQ'u or Poweramp, or buy the Fiio E11/E12 for more bass boost.  The ws99's drivers can easily handle an insane amount of bass.

Yea I find that an E11 [which has more bass boost then the E12 although less power and it think the E12 is deeper] There is also the JDS Labs C5 with a whopping +6 at 80hrz :O I had one and let's just say it was TO MUCH bass for me q.q lol it made Wobbles Lop Sidded xD [all that SUB and Low MID GROWL]

OP said he doesn't want to carry an amp, and I definitely see where he's coming from. Otherwise for just pure bass, nothing beats a Digizoid ZO - up to +24db at 30hz :O

indeed, I can see why you wouldn't want to OP, but if you MUST have more bass DigiZoid is the way to go

It's a bit expensive though.

It's in the ballpark for a budget portable amp - cheaper than the E12. It's not that great purely as an amp, but of course nothing else can do what it does for bass.

Aint that the truth! Plus it has a really nice design.
