portable setup talk me out if it, or talk me into some thing else

This is what I have come to conclude, after reading more here in past few months then it would take to read lord of the rings, the hobbit, and Game of thrones.

Dap: dx50
Amp: RSA Shadow
Iem: Westone 4r or Um3x

Do I need a DAC ? Or should the dx50 be plenty, I am under the impression of dx50 should be sweet.

Music: Little of everything: from tool to florider, Elvis, Santana, Maiden, Draft Punk... List goes on.

Thanks for your input.

I'm going to guess you will not need to use an add-on DAC or amplifier with the iBasso DX50s.

The IBasso DX50 should have way more then enough power to drive your IEMs.

Would I be better off , skipping the amp and use those funds to go after an ak100? I have read a little about the ak100. The reason for the amp as I see lots of people using them with there dx50.

Thanks for the reply.

If your using a headphone with a high impedance (Ohms) then I can see using as add-on amplifier.

Your IEM are 50-Ohms or less, can't see needing an add-on amp.

But then again I've never used the iBasso DX50, so my opinion my not reflect real world usage.

I've listen to the AK100, really nice sound, but i'm not the kind of person who would spend that much for a portable audio player.

Is there like a rule of thumb for power to ohm. I know my hd600 are 300 ohm and need power to show off, from what I have read they need like 600+ mw or more . the westone are 31 ohm. So like a custom iem like jh16 or something that has like 100+ ohm a amp would be good. I know that spec are specs and different all around so that is why I was asking about a rule of thumb?

Thanks again you have been great help so far.
