Ughhh the doge meme has blown up so much since like May. It's almost too main stream for me now -- all these filthy casual people have them as their youtube profile picture. Makes me sick.

Well. Going to have to go against the grain here and give the Sony Erection MH1 a distinct 2 thumbs down.

Colouration wise it's simply to dark and IEM for my personal liking. Add to that the absolute worst cable I have ever encountered in a lifetime of working with electronics of all types. I mean the only thing this cable has going for it is it's lack of microphonics, and that aint enough for any kind of recommendation at all.

Add to the above the fact that there is the seemingly rampant channel imbalance. Now about that. This seems to worsen and then stabilize as the phones warm up. On a whim I popped the tip off the offending driver and swabbed the filter. The imbalance was gone. 2 hours later it creeps back in. Took a real close look at that filter with a loupe and it would seem there is some form of liquid seeping through. On a guess I'd have to say too much of some kind of glue at the factory which has not or does not set seeps centrewards on the filter slowly shutting off the sound.

Sound Quality C-

Build Quality   F

Ergonomics    F largely due to the cable.

There are simply too many Budget IEMS out there that are better at just about everything and don't have build issues. I'd have to recommend giving these a pass. You would simply have to put too much work into them to make them useful.

^ Maybe your standards were too D'YAM HIGH???

i dunno there seems to be a lot of quality control issues with these things, BUT all of the 3 sets i have had before never had any problems whatsoever. Had to burn-in my 1st set for like a week in order to get those drivers to sound right but after that it was smooth sailing all the way. No channel imbalance, etc, etc, etc on all my subsequent sets so...... tough luck???

Yeah if someone can re-cable these for me for cheap, i'll get them done ASAP. Really dig how they sound, just too bad the cable completely ruins the experience. :  (

My standards cannot be that high. I'll rave about the 7 dollar monoprices to anyone who'll listen. The MH1's just have too much baggage with them, and at this price point there are too many other options that actually work.

Durrr!!! Was just trollin' ya'. Why you think those lowly LG QB2s are getting their shine now??? If they cable of these MH1Cs were like normal cheapos then they would have reigned supreme meng.

They can sound smooth to almost a fault tbh, try taping the vent which will give it better clarity due to the reduction in bass quantity. They sound their best that way tbh.

Now, you must have gotten the wrong pair. Did you order the Just-in Beaver blowup doll there as well?

I can't disagree on the cable, not one bit.

Standing firm on this one. Too much downside no where near enough up.

Pardon me for bringing this thread back on topic, but is Yamaha the latest FOTM?  The HPH-200 appears to be able to do no wrong.
