whats the "bagel " aspect.  toasting them in the middle is that what you are getting at?  do enlighten me

It's this term in the Korean world which means someone with glamorous body proportions (i.e. good child-rearing hips and big jugs) and nice faces.

The actual wording is a mash-up of 베이 (baby face), 글 (glamorous body) , and 녀 (girl). Which sounds like the word bagel in english.

Those bagel Korean girls I reckon are copying what the Japanese do somewhat.

You learn something new every day. At least this kind of "bagel" is a lot more attractive than the bagel/donut forehead thing they do in Japan.

I hope they all realize the 6088 is a pretty meh tube choice... and I love how "its the best amp under $1650?" BUT has issues with microphonics AND a poopy noise floor... I must hype this now!

Where did you hear that? And what is microphonics in an amp?  I've only heard of cable microphonics

It is what happens when you resurrect a dead technology and don't have the first clue about how it actually works or why it was replaced by significantly better technologies.

Nice link.  I'm not sure about the statement "don't have the first clue about how it actually works.."

My experience with Schiit has been very good.

... the Birdie just jump started the Korean vs. Jpn debate again!!!

i dunno Jpn pop culture just seems to be a bit tacky to me. Jpn is what spearheaded the global popularization of contemporary Asian pop culture via anime/ j-pop, manga, etc but Korean pop culture these days are much more polished it seems. This is pretty evident in how much more popular Korean pop music/ movies/ tv dramas, etc are as compared to the rest of the other Asian countries (Jpn coming very close at 2nd). This i believe has to do with the much more polished package of Korean pop culture, in which makes it easier for global consumption.

Those Koreans know how to package and market themselves, cuz no social internet media outlets are safe from their promotion. While Jpn censures/ copy right protects so much of their music it's almost laughable. As the consequence even music videos (PVs)/ live tv performances, etc are banned on youtube due to this. This almost isolationist strategy is ironic and self defeating in this age of the inter-web it seems. So in essence i do agree with you that Koreans are copying inspired (apples does this best : P) by Jpn, they nonetheless took it to an much more refined level by throwing other different elements into it as well. Everyone copies from everybody but it only matters how well you copy and making it your own tbh. Hollywood is surely also guilty of copying and there is not doubt Koreans are copying a great deal from their preconceived notion of what "American" culture is as well, so...... ehhh what was my point again??? Right KOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA #1 baby!!!

Basically guys, Nomax is right.

Seriously, strap on tight as AKG have released a monster of a headphone. A real real beauty. I almost cried when listening to it.

The real judge of how good this headphone is will ultimately come when you get the chance to listen for yourself, but it's better than the T1's and better than the HD800 in my opinion. I have very rarely, if at all, described a headphones sound as beautiful but this is what this is. It's so clean, clear, resolving, weightly, full, dynamic, layered and above all natural. No artificial brightness, sibilance or peaks. Bass isn't light or under-energised. It's closer to the Sig Pro's in weight and quantity rather than the T1's. The soundstage is HD800 style wide. Definitely wider than the T1's.

What really Impressed me. No that's a lie. What really scared me was how good it sounded out of my SGS I9000 smart phone (Voodoo sound). Wow. I can't see driveability being a problem with this headphone.

I agree with Ra97oR about the cable in that it could be more flashy/impressive but it's completely functional and I'm someone who likes thinner more easier to manage cables rather than the T1 type. Something like the Ultrasone Signature pro's cable is the best - could have done something like this. He explained about how this can be driven from an ipad for use when musicians mix/take ideas down on it (that's true) and when one considers that, the cable makes more sense. Overall build apart from that is very good.....

....might as well just write a review on listening impressions, rather than just type whatever I'm thinking. I'll be back shortly..

My friends,

I had said it. Mark my words ... Breakfast ...

Although this caused trouble because no one likes to hear that. Yet it is the truth. The K812 is the best dynamic headphones in the world. Simple.

On the Schiit front....

A 120$ amp that is "the best amp under $1650.00!!!"? A new hype of the year, lol

Schiit must be deaf to price it at only 120$, if it's that good this amp will completely destroy all of schiit products. No one will ever care about Lyr, Asgard, Valhalla because they are more expansive and sound not as good as Vali. Schiit will be able to sell very very many of these Vali but no more Lyr, Asgard, Valhalla. If the Vali is that incredible good and Schiit guys are smart, they will give it a better enclosure, power and price it at more resonable price. A company should price their product by its performance and build quality, judge by the price 120$ i think the Vali will sound better than a Magni and can be as good as a Asgard.

On don't forget those soon to be released LCD Xs as well.....
