No, not really! But it was entertaining in a twisted way. And it was a good example of hype!

Maybe it's the way he writes English in total hyperbole and flamboyant enthusiasm but every thread he creates, or to be fair most of them, have created a massive amount of hype.

I remember a quote saying something along the line of him single handedly keeping the economy of the headphone industry going, and I can see that point. No one else on head-fi is as directly responsible for people buying new gear as him. Not even close.

Based on my personal purchasing history, I'd have to say that I clearly see that point as well lol!

It doesn't get much more hyped than Sony MH1C, and that was all the Nutman's work!

^ Can't say i didn't see it coming tbh, party poopers. : P

Surprised that Warren was the one that closed it haha, whould have thought the Birdie would be the one. Looks can be deceiving. That cute adorable thing is deadly!!! hoho

Stax hype.  Pretty soon I'll be fullsize Stax free which suits me more than fine.

Sure a crazy type airyness and speed, but I find you get less in the way of tactile slam.  It'll be good to be rid of the last fullsized one. THE thing that has stopped me so far, is that I'm such an idiot I am buying into all the hype on the things and that was making me second-guess myself and my preferences.   They are great, just somebody else's great, not MY great.

Technically they are incredible though.

" But I'm supposed to like these "

That's why it's called PERSONAL PREFERENCE * hitting myself and signing up to a flagellist weekend retreat *

I know that's what it was the whole time. There's a reason they sat there looking pretty unused compared to other things.

Rant over.

good point on the huge surge of Top Models now.

^ Good points nick, PERSONAL is key, DON"T BUY THE HYPE!!! :deadhorse:

^ You read ALL seven pages of this worthless thread??? That's MADNESS!!! :triportsad:

Thanks for pointing out the elephant in the room. ;) They don't call him the hype nutman for nothin' ya' know. That's what i like about Ds though, his sheer love for this hobby is so evident and genuine in his hyperbole and flamboyant posts that you just can't help but love the dood. Or should i say get sucked into the hype.

The nutman has yet to truly disappoint me with the majority of the hypes, and he is ALWAYS willing to take one for the team/ give tons of helpful impressions/ advice. I think the positives of the nutman outweigh the negative tbh.

It's all love from here meng. :)

^ LoL i would LOVE to give credit to the nutman for this one since he literally ORDERED everyone to buy one. haha But those MH1Cs was the work of our lovely ClieOS and what lovely work it was indeed.

i dunno for ya'll but those MH1Cs truly lived up to their "hype", it was just that horrid cable that kept them from godhood. :)

Loved everything about their sound, sooo refinely smooth yet sooo engaging/ fun and is great of all types of music esp. contemporary genres.

They were what taught me what true higher end sound is like and put a lot of my previous budget-fi gears into proper context/ perspective.

On that note hmmmm there was some hype gems in that thread which i had something to do with as well. Need to document that tbh. haha

SFwaynesworld told me you gave into the hype and are going to get that Abbott & Costello XA150 player?

Costello: And you don't know the DAP buyers' names?

Abbott: Well I should.

Costello: Well then who's got it first?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: I mean the buyer's name.

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The buyer that got the DAP  first.

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The first DAP buyer.

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The buyer that is playing...

Abbott: Who is the one that got it first!

Costello: I'm asking YOU who's the one to get it first.

Abbott: That's the DAP buyer's name.

Costello: That's who's name?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: Well go ahead and tell me.

Abbott: That's it.

Costello: That's who?

Abbott: Yes.

PAUSE

Costello: Look, you gotta first reviewer?

Abbott: Certainly.

Costello: Who's reviewing the Dap first?

Abbott: That's right.

Costello: When you pay off the first Dap reviewer every month, who gets the money?

Abbott: Every dollar of it.

Costello: All I'm trying to find out is the fellow's name that had it first.

Abbott: Who.

Costello: The guy that gets...

Abbott: That's it.

In case you don't know I adapted this from their famous "Who's on First " baseball comedy sketch.  Maybe some of you will not even know who they are.

Ah right, didn't mean to take the honour away from ClieOS!

Apparently some major R&D went into those MH1C's to create the perfect sound signature. Too bad they screwed it up with that horrendous cable.

What, I don't know, Abbott and Costello.

Why are we playing baseball now, that's not the official hype sport. Naked Beach Volleyball. With MH1Cs on.

Way to encourage him with a "like." smily_headphones1.gif

^ and you didn't???

he seemed very reserved, so giving him the benefit of the doubt this time around.   Wait until impressions from tomorrow's revealing/auditioning in London are in, THEN we'll see some action.  Thiat will hit 50 pages in a couple hours. I predict a second locking.

Hmm maybe the driver is square like those older Sony speakers that were around for a bit.   That's my prediction. Right there. Square or offset pentagonal like the Sony ECR models of yore..
