It's the Beyer Dynamic DT250 80 ohm again!
Among all these DT250 threads, one more is coming up
I'll do short review of them (with my limited knowledge of headphones), and pass on an advice in the end.
I've had these babies for about two weeks now. I started using them right out of the box, and my hopes wasn't fully fulfilled in the beginning. They just didn't sound as good I had aimed for. After a few hours of use, I had them burned in over the night, that made them a whole lot better. After one more night of burn-in they sounded really good, more musical and a bit brighter.
Best thing about them is that they sound good with everything! And they are easily driven. I'll say they're semi-comfortable, as they tend to get a bit tight around yuor ears and at times my ears do get a little warm. I'd still mark them ascomfortable though.
I listen to very bass-heavy music occasionally and these cans handle it, of course you don't have the same feeling with the bass as you get with speakers, and I could imagine that other cans (Beyer 770 maybe?) would give you better bass response. BUT, these cans still got tremendous bass, I havn't heard a single disortion and I've never felt the bass was "missing".
The biggest discovery for me has been how a pair of good headphones can make ambient music sound so much better. I had never listened to ambient in a pair of quality cans before I bought these, and the difference to my speakers is amazing! I shows you a whole other world of the music (which also happens with other kinds of music, but especially ambient in my opinion), you hear so many more details.
The soundstage is a good margin better than average. The music is not directly in front of me, but it's very close
Maybe this is as good as sound stage get on closed cans?
About isolation, it's alot better than I expected. You don't hear a thing when the volume is a bit over normal, which is perfect for my use.
Just saw this in another thread about these, and I think it describes them very well. They are not "in your face", but they aren't boring either. Someone else has desribed them as "musical", which I think is very suitable.
These cans simply are the all-around headphone I've searched for, and they were definately the extra bucks worth it (I payed more for these than I intended to pay for a pair of headphones). So I have a headphone that suits my needs very good, but at the same time are a bit more expensive than I'd like, and the question is if I should have spend less money and bought a different pair of headphones which wouldn't have suited my needs this good. I think not, and I see now that I did the right thing, buying an expensive headphone that suited my needs, instead of a less expensive one that would annoy me eventually anyway. And I'll pass this advice on, I'm not saying that you should buy an expensive can no matter what, just make sure the can fits your needs the best instead of your wallet. Put the sound over the money!
