Back in the game, help me spend my money!

I might be showing my age by saying that my last audio experience was with iPod 5.5, iBasso T3 and MTPC's...regardless, my MTPC's and iPod have kicked the bucket, so it's time for a new pair of IEMs and a new DAP.  Here is some of my gear history:

·       Always been an iPod user, last iteration was a 5.5g that I resurrected way too many times.

·       IEM's in order that I owned them:  ER6i, qJays, ER4s, MTPC.

I preferred the MTPC’s to everything but found them a little lacking in clarity.

My listening is made up of:

·       Classical 50%, mostly baroque era stuff,

·       Alt/indie rock 15%,

·       Rap 15%

·       Melodic metal 20%

Because I have been out of the game for a few years, I have missed many new IEMs.  If I didn’t know what the internet was, I would probably just buy another pair of ER4s’ and call it a day.

However, I think there’s probably something more suitable out there, which is why I’ve come to you fellows.

I am looking for something that is clear, full, and balanced above everything else, somewhere in between the ER4s and the MTPC.  I have never had a fit issue with any IEM I have owned, but would prefer something that is known to be comfortable.

It would be nice to use my ALO LOD, but I’m not stuck on the iPod thing.  Perhaps a used one?  There are undoubtedly better and cheaper options out there…right?  I would like a DAP that can play lossless formats.

My budget for source and IEMs is $500, but could stretch it another $100 if necessary.

I am not expecting a be-all-end-all answer, just a springboard to help me get back in the game.

Thank you for the helps.

Thanks for the rec.

I actually came into a pair of Beats (shame, shame!) and do not use them - I have no need for large headphones.

The DX50 is intriguing, but I'm hesitant about the UI.  More research is in order.

Any other IEM recs?

Take a look at Inear Stagediver (if you like balanced) or Stagediver 3 (if you like bass). Great build and comfort and awesome sound.
