If I ever see a plus 4000 dollar DAP on the market I'll probably fall out of my seat and break my back. Whether its from shock or laughing so hard remains to be seen. Boutique or not, high end consumer or not, I agree there's a certain line that when crossed the manufacturer begins to look ridiculous.

There's one AK240 on Amazon (U.S) for $3495. Now let's not all rush over at once and crash the site trying to buy it.

Addictied to Audio are asking  $2,999.00 AUD in Australia for AK240 units.

Which works out to be $2700 USD.

Yeah, but what about free shipping?

~$3000DAP... wow. Anyone who buys that, even if he has the $$$ to buy, is crazy. Just have John Meyer sing in your place or something.

Really? If this has a 3 year lifespan like a laptop, its only $1000 per year. And then I could update... Just look at the progress AK has made in 18 months!

Or buy every other top end DAP form fiio and ibasso and sony etc... and still have money left over for beer...

The technology creed used to be. Twice the performance at half the price every 18 months. The dudes at AK seem to have inverted that particular model.

Did the maxim change, or the business model? Still, it points towards drastic improvement in sound over the next year or two... Should I wait?

I almost laughed at that.

Oh, and $1000 per year is less than $100 a month with the low financing prices I can get you! For just the price of a Starbucks coffee every day you can afford the very best! As official Head-fi members we deserve this, too.

(Music, headphones, and cables not included. Taxes where applicable, based on MSRP of $2900. Dealer not responsible for hearing loss or incidental damages. Check local laws before walking, driving or using heart medications while enjoying this product)
