Oh OK - I am using an IMac and have had no such problems.

Well that's definitely one way to 'manually' install the firmware.

There's also the Aussie way which involves firing up the BBQ but the fumes might get a little toxic for you H2O

"Good news", we won't have to eat barbecue DAP much longer because Neil Young is coming "to the rescue" with the Pono Player Kickstarter pre-orders in a few days.

No triangular DAP in my house.. I am more intrigued by the upcoming audiophile DAP by Cowon.

Cowon has a new player coming out?

Will it finally be the successor to the J3? I've always loved the physical design of their media players but it seems that they've been under-powered for the software they run.

Also, I keep reading Pono as porno. The Porno player sounds much better. XD

Although the Pono is triangular in shape, in your pocket, it could look like you are really happy to see people (which could be interpreted as "porno" behavior).

But yeah, that upcoming Cowon device looks like actual good news especially if it has Android. Cowon is known for it's stable UIs.

The ones without Android, yes. Their two previous Android players were on the buggy side....mainly due to under-powered hardware. And their other players' UI might be stable, but they've never been the most intuitive. The J3 which so many people praise quite often has replacement UI installed on it.

I only have the Cowon player without Android. I would probably immediately switch to a third party software player and try to install Viper4Android anyway.

The slow UI (due to inferior parts) is always a problem with these small market devices. I guess if you don't purchase in bulk (by the millions) , parts are expensive. Android 4.4 (KitKat) is suppose to work better with older processors. But, it's doubtful they'll come out the gate with KitKat as the OS version. This is why I lean more to smartphones with audiophile type components

Where did you hear this? The Cowon's are decent however all thier DAPs are labelled as audiophile, so it doesn't mean much. unless they're pushing for something high end it will most likely be something android based which haven't been very successful from them.
