So... I just found the KRK RP5G2 Rokit G2 in amazon at $103.99 the unit (around 200 for both) and wanted to know if you guys think they are worth the price or it´s better to go with other active´s. I already have ODAC and so on, so gear wouldn´t be a problem.

I ended up purchasing the KRK Rokit 6 G3 and the Xonar Essence One. I really, really, really wanted to get the ODAC, but I needed a nearby physical volume knob which the E1 provides.

I'm looking forward to experimenting with new opamps :)

I now have the choice of using RCA or XLR cables from the E1 to the monitors? Would I benefit at all with the balanced cables? they will be running near my computer and power board. Thet will need to be about 1m long each I imagine.

I remember reading somewhere that balanced cables can sometimes reduce the quality of the signal compared to unbalanced cables, especially when they are not necessary, any truth to this?

I would find it surprising that XLR cables could result in reduced sound quality since they were originally designed for audio production studio use. Seems like they wouldn't be too useful for that.

Indeed.

I ended up buying some starquad canare cables with neutrik connectors for what I think was a reasonable price off ebay.
