A lot of professional who actually mix/master for a living are raving about them here:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/product-alerts-older-than-2-months/866266-focal-professional-launches-spirit-professional-headphones.html

Not sure if this means anything, but I was intrigued enough to order them. A majority of the excitement/reviews seem to be coming from the professional community which I've never really seen before. It's odd, yet possibly exciting at the same time.

Anyway I'll let you guys know how they stack up against the 7520 (IMO of course)

I tried the Focal Spirit Classic myself, and I wasn't impressed. And I especially didn't find them comfortable. The earcups are small, like the Momentum. Perhaps even a bit smaller, yet the leather is a lot stiffer. Very uncomfortable. YMMV ofcourse.

But I can imagine the Spirit Pro sounding different than the classic. It's catered to a different crowd.

Hey Starfly. I did indeed read your review of them. Very carefully I might add, since they were negative. I usually pay more attention to negative reviews. I'll let you know what I think of the Spirit Pro.

To get back on topic. Have any of you gotten a custom cable made for the 7520? I'm thinking about asking Brian at BTG audio to make me a sunset cable, one that goes 3.5mm to a right angled 3.5mm.

I remember in the old Z1000 thred, someone mentioned using AudioQuest 3.5mm to 3.5mm interconnect. I think that might be a bit stiff though.

V-Moda cable stopped working for you?

Oh, it's working just fine. Wondering if further improvements are to be had. :D

So during my lunch time. I walked over to the Apple Store, 2nd time this week, with my X3 + 7520 to compare it to the P7, H6, and even the Beats Studio.

7520 curb-stomped all of them with ease. LOL. I gave each one a long good listen with multiple tracks, making sure to check the fit and seal. I didn't want to not give them a fair chance at it.

I sort of hesitated posting of my 1st walk over, because I wanted to give all three of them a chance once more, but thought I would share this time. Keep in mind though that the Apple Store during lunch time isn't exactly the quietest place.

Funny thing, but true is that the Beats Studio sounded better than the P7, and H6. Overall that is. There were things the P7 did better but overall the Beats won. Which is just really sad...

Haha. Yeah, not to say the Studios were amazing, but its just more of a statement about the P7 or H6. Plus the Apple Store... I could not see where the lines went to. It plugs into something before coming back up to the Headphone. Not sure how that effected everything, But yeah that's what I heard in my two seperate visits to the Apple Store, and I tried hard to get the best possible seal/fit and play many different genres to see if the headphones showcase themselves in anyway off my own X3 and my own music. I actually went with cash in hand on the first day to buy the P7, but was just so dissapointed I left without them. Now I'm really not interested in them, unless someone calls me to tell me the P7 at the store was defective or something.

The Studios... the new ones were quite surprising. They sound nothing like the old one. I would say in terms of sonics they match the Sony MDR-1R (overall) which is shocking for me. And now I'm actually looking forward to the update to their "pro" line to see where they take this. The whole battery recharging/noise cancellation thing is a total buzz kill though.

As I said, I'm glad that I don't hear things the way you seem to be...

Ah. So I'm guessing you like one of these headphones or possibly both? Good for you man. I can only hear the way I hear so... nothing to be done about it. Haha. What I can say is that I gave them both a good chance to make a positive impression on me and nothing happened.

That Beats thing really rattled me. I was just imaging only having Beats "cans" in my profile and living happily ever after. Truly frightening :D

I actually tried the new ones for a few minutes and they are NOT bad at all!!!

If I find a good deal, I'd probably get them and test them out more... they kind of reminded me of refined Monster N-Pulse which I absolutely love and think they are a steal if you can find them at a good price (i.e. $100 or lower.). In fact, I think they are good even at their $150+ price.

P.S. N-Pulse, NOT N-Tune btw...
