Of course it's very easy to say Koss Porta Pro is better than hd800. 'Better' is very WIDE, but in which direction?

Hohoho, nice example

But that's not the problem. The problem is:

You know the Eiffel Tower in Paris. He has about 300m. You know the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. He has about 50m

When I say, the Eiffel Tower is larger, there are 9 of 10 people, the cry immediately: Can they prove it? Where is the measurement - the fact?

And exactly here: You know, for a Koss Porta and to distinguish a HD800, I do not measure. The difference is much larger than my example. Only apparently not for many people.

My suggestion: You must learn, learn, learn, and maybe they can then in the end tell the difference between the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe with the eyes.

This is the truth - the sad truth, sorry.

sorry, but one of them is the example with Koss Porta and HD800 - not from me.

You have to think for themselves what they write - what a nonsense. Or they themselves have a problem to distinguish between the quality of Koss Porta and HD800? If so, they have my sympathy. If not, I ask them: Why do you write such nonsense?

But you know, we let it go at this point.

It makes no sense. If you are trying to argue rationally, nonsense comes as their example with Koss Porta and HD800.

So it is impossible to objectively reasonable to argue.

Until the next person comes along and asks: Can you the difference between a plastic in-ear for 10USD and the HD800 prove - where is the measurement?

It makes no sense. We let it. Soon they will even get a picture of the K812 and until then, have a good time.

Looks like a current K/Q70X/712 but with a different headband yoke/arc design. I will be seriously laughing my ass off if this just a K712 with a facelift malfunction and an extra premium charge at $1000. Haha, bring back the old AKG for petes sake.

LOL this just made my day... I am going to use your example each time someone doesn't understand why quality of headphones matter. Hopefully, people will finally see the truth! :beerchug:

Now we are talking more sensibly.
These 5 years old kids give me a headache.
Head-Fi should have a dedicated plauground forum for such talks.

It also briefly look like akg 550.
I remember before they launched 702, q701, annie, 712 all have such a high hope, in the end is just same old fart.

I hope edifier will not crushed stax just like what harman did to akg.

Solution: post report to a moderator.

I really don't get it how it is possible to spam 45 pages of posts based only on 1-2 small images and printscreens from YT video. You guys have definitely too much free time. I almost envy you.

But if we wanna play theorycrafting, then based on my long time experience with Q701, K550, various mods for both of them and those 1-2 pictures, K812 will be probably a merged signature of them. "Semi-open K550" is what I would expect, but with possible high price tag "by Harman" my interest in this model is weakening.

Oh my, if they don't sound as open as HD800, I have no interest either... Semi-open? You're scary!

Not safe to assume like that. If they ask such high price compared to their previous model, the sound signature can be very different from their original house sounding.

Like Grado's PS1000, Sennheiser HD800.... very different from their own typical sounds. Even one can argue Beyer's T1 and those expensive tesla ones are a bit departure from their old housing sound as well.

Anyway, all of these spam posts pretty much killed my interest.... Rather getting LCD-X I guess and/or Alpha Dog.

Right. Some folks see the shape of a K 340 or K 240 in there, but to me too the cup looks exactly like any cup of the K 300/400/500/601/701/etc. series. I think they most resemble the not-too-well-liked K 300, (p)leather pads and all.

I was talking about their construction, not their sound. I don't know why you're assuming that K812 will be competition to HD800, Sennheiser never branded HD800 as a studio mastering headphones, AKG did, now and before. Therefore I unfortunately doubt K812 will be at the same level - the goal of both is somewhat different.

To be honest, every single assumption before official showroom can be considered as not safe. It can be, you're right here, but once again - neither of them were branded as studio headphones in the first place.

As I'm modified Q701 user, my interest in K812 is mainly surrounded in sound differences against this exact model, which is very affordable right now anyway, but I would suggest you to wait those few days until more informations will be available. Then you can make your decision any time later and you at least won't regret your delay.

Conspiracy theory, maybe these kids are sent by akg competitors to kill interest for k812, hahaha.

Anyway, I am still interested in 812 until proven otherwise. All of these trial and error could also 'accidentally' produce a very nice sound. Look at audio technica ad2000 for example. It is not master of neutrality but sound darn nice nevertheless.

Well, there are several factors that suggest them as a direct competition:

1) Price

2) Very open nature of x7xx series

3) The youtube video (not only studio folks listening to them)

4) Nomax and michaelxray

On the other hand, you're right that semi-open design would make more sense...
