I'm coming back to this thread in 8 weeks when something useful turns up.

Right now all i see is one person who's actually managed to hype this yet non existent product to a whole new level and others making pre judgements based on what the headphones look like

You do realize that is more than all other dynamic-driver flagships except the edition 10?

If it does come out at 1300 euros, that is.

What do you want from its design? I see that they've changed the worst part of Akg K7xx, joining of headband and cups. It was plastic and now it's out of metal. They didn't need to improve anything else because everything was already great.

You also forgot to mention Beyerdynamic T1. They didnt changed the desing at all. Actually it looks almost the same as 880. And nobody cares.

And about the price. First we are not sure that it's true. And second, usually 1300 euros in Europe means 1300 dollars in the USA and the rest of the World. And we also should remember that Akg doesn't control its prices so strictly as Sennheiser. For example you can buy AKG K712 which have the recomended price of 699$ for 400-500.

Yep!

I've asked them and though I won't be able to get a day off from work (booked the 4th and the 7th off), I'm in central london, around 20 mins away from red bull studios. Hopefully I can get a listen and compare them to my T1's while I'm at it

LOL maybe it's a totally redesigned Q701 variation using the same driver but with the bass port opened

Sorry, couldn't resist..

haha... ;)

which could be translated by:

"Inheriting the same varimotion drivers and sound profile of its acclaimed predecessor "Quincy Jones 701" while optimizing its appearance and bass response, our new flagship "Michael Jackson Tribute 812" (M812) meets the expectations of the most demanding professionals and sound purists.

The M812 will set a new benchmark among the top exotic headphones for the next decade."

They should cost 800$ and sound as good or better than the HD800,and as close as possible to the K1000.

That would be perfect:)

I'm still thinking about the leather earpads...
The only flagship that uses them are the LCD2 and LCD3. And they do so to keep the bass in.
I am not sure how this K812 with the leather earpads would sound seeing that their previous models had valour earpads and completely no earpads.

add on: sorry forgot about the K550, K167 and K267.
Still, would be interesting.

Should cost $800 and sound as good as a $1500 headphone (strictly $1500 for years).

Doesn't sound like a reality..

Ditto.. Not sure why people are expecting them to somehow beat out headphones almost twice their price.

from the design it looks like something harman had to throw up to fight the senns momentum ...looks like something more fashionable rather than a signature technological product
