Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones - Page 72

I have no idea how these Shures (or any Shure for that matter) sound. I can tell you I've also tried a number of other headphones that are highly regarded and took them back. I didn't go running to their appreciation thread to tell them their headphones were not worthy of praise. I just know in my mind they don't appeal to my ears. I'm glad you lime your Shures. What is it you are looking for in a new headphone costing half what yours cost?

I have a pair of Shure 846s and P7s, and personally I find myself reaching for the P7s a whole lot more, I think they're an amazing headphone. True, I was underwhelmed on my first listen, but I persevered, allowed them to burn in and open up, and to my ears the sound is now something really special indeed.

I only ask because I searched FOREVER (and a day) to find a hard case for the P7s things with little luck. I ended up finding a case that was the exact dimensions of the P7s folded, so I bought it and the case was still too small. Even when I made my headphones as short as possible, they were still too big for the case.

If you do own and are using this case, do you have to shrink the headphones in order to make them fit (e.g. push the height/fit adjustments all the way down)? I'd hate to have to readjust the height /fit of my headphones every time I take them in and out of the case.

Thanks in advance for any help given!

Hi there, did you ever get a response to your question about this hard case definitely fitting the P7's (or did you go ahead and buy one and try it out)? I've been searching everywhere for a hard case for mine (I travel a lot). It looks like it would fit, but I'd love to hear from someone that has actually tried it.

Thanks.

No I did not. I am in the same boat as you unfortunately. It would have sucked for me either way because that Amazon seller doesn't ship to the United States.

I would still like to know if it fits, and then possibly try to find a way to get it to the US if at all possible.

Hi there. Have been using P7 for about 3 months. Impressions: out of box – bloomy bass and lack of highs. Tight stage. After about 50 hrs of burn-in: bass is much more tight and accurate, highs almost perfect. After recabling (used Canare 4S6, 4 wires, separate pair of wires for each driver): sound has changed dramatically. Now P7 sound for me similar to Sennheiser HD 600, but even more transparent. Just an  illusion (or not illusion?) of open type phones. Stage and level of detail is  just incredible. Last month was going to buy Beyerdynamic T1, but now just feel like it makes no sense. Absolutely happy with P7. Using them with Alexmod (Iriver IHP140 mod by Alex).

Hello,

After I'm really getting used to the awesome Meridian Prime the weakest link is now the P7. They are still great but the Prime just push them beyond their limit.

So now I'm thinking of upgrading the cable, But who and who and where as the P7 has an slightly awkward connector........

Hs anyone found a good fit hard shell case for the P7? Mine are traveling ok without any case in my work bag, but I'd prefer having them in a better case.

Someone posted this: http://www.head-fi.org/t/681976/bowers-wilkins-p7-over-the-ear-headphones/1035#post_10565711 a few pages back, but I asked him to confirm that what he was saying was indeed true, but I never got a reply. Even if that case does work, I believe I saw somewhere where it said that Amazon seller only ships to the UK and not the US.

I am in the same boat as you and would like to find a proper hard case for my P7s as well.

Amazon US actually does sell that now for $15. I also have the CASEBUDi large for my HD650 and really like it. There is a smaller CASEBUDi for Beats that looks like it might fit. That one is $20 but if it fits looks like a more steak package from the outside.

Thanks for the info. What's the fit like for the P7s in your CASEBUDi large case? Noticed on the Amazon Q&A section for that case someone mentioning they use theirs for P7s.

That's great news. Has anyone confirmed this to fit the P7? I would much rather get the August case if the P7s will fit.

I put the P7's in the large tonight.  Fits ok, in one half, but the 2 halves together are too thick.  I would try one of the other 2...

Thanks for giving it a test.

Just got my P7s exchanged. Mine were 8 months old but I had the geek squad plan on them. The headband had a crack in the center. Now I know for sure because I can feel the clamping force people talk about! I don't remember my originals ever feeling this tight. Can't say I hear any audible difference despite these being brand new and not "burned in". Paid $10 for the used peritoneal of the warranty and reset my 4 year plan to start today. Love these cans!
