Brainwavz S1: Fortune Favors The Bold! - Page 3

Nice review and even nicer looking and souding iem. I want to see how the upcoming generation of vsonic entry models are going to be when compared to this solid offer from Brainwavz.

I'm interested in this also. Historically, I'd say that Vsonic have generally been a step above Brainwavz in price / performance ratio, but perhaps the S1 could shift that balance.

What's great is that entry level buyers are now spoiled for choice.

Edit: As a side note, I also think that the S1 is the most handsome looking phone Brainwavz have released. In the pics they simply oozes smart, minimalist class. Ok ok... looks don't matter, I know I know... *looks fondly at the S1*   ;)

Thanks for the feedback, i'll pass the compliments on the design to the rest of the team. We'll try and give the rest of our peers a good run for their money with all our new gear coming out.

The only thing I am curious about the design is if the shell is able to stay inside the ear, comfortably even when walking or if the shell just pokes a little bit out of the ear.

The geometric design can be a little bit more punishing on people with small ears.

Any chance of some ear pics showing up and down fit?

Yeah, that would be really awesome.

Yeah, it looks like a lot of thought has gone into the design / ergonomics. Visually, it almost reminds me of a cross between the CK10, DBA-02 mk2, and RE-400. That's a very good thing - as all three of those phones fit very snugly, comfortably and discreetly inside the ear.

Bring on the in-ear pics.

I don't know if I am gonna buy these or the vsd3. Let´s face it the sound difference won't nothing very noticeable so at this point I am more concerned about the ergonomics and to someone with small ears, the s1's frighten me a little bit.

Okay, first one home so I took a pic of myself...

Can't be discreet like some of the phones mentioned. As I stated earlier, they do try to prevent a deeper insert, seemingly on purpose, with the angle of the relief and the housing that gets bigger towards the tips end. These are bigger phones than the DBA(had on loan), CK10(owned), and the RE400. The phones were hanging only being held by the one side that was in my ear. They stay in well for me even with shorter tip(using Sennheiser tips).

At least for me wore like that they don't seem to bulky, they are quite reasonable, my doubts are over the ear because that would be the way I would wear them.

If you don´t want to upload more pics just comment, do they poke out when wore over the ear or can they fit inside the ear confortably? And thanks for being so helpful.

Nope, over the ear is the deeper more flush way. They stick out about half as much as in the earlier photo wearing them down. They fit inside my ears comfortably for what that's worth. I'm average ear size and use medium tips most of the time.

These can be worn down but are not designed that way and really do work better over ear as they are more flush as jant71 mentioned plus the rubber coming off the IEM is angled to accomodate going over ear.

In that case I believe I am gonna give them a try and pre-order some, I hope they live to the hype.

if you wanna "pre-order some" would suggest order trying just singular first.......as every one's ear canal is unique like our finger print and supplied ear tips fit some ears but won't for many......gotta swap from our other IEM collections same way I did/do for my IEM collections. recently I received Brainwavz M5 which came with 7 tips but none i'm comfortable with, gotta have to use my MEElec M9P's grey bi-flange tips for proper fit. Even Brainwavz strike with a black permanent marker outside of the M5 box(2012 batch) to mask the bi-flange tips that you won't get it so don't claim so.What am I gonna do with supplied stock 6 silicon eartips?  And could I comment on the SQ with improperly fit tips? It ain't justice.

luckily I had this MEElec's bi-flange.Sad and disappointment if there's no comfortable fit achieved with the supplied stock tips.that's why we see many sony hybrids in our forums here which are better alternatives to many stock tips(even for TF10) but their native sony model IEMs.....Even shure Olives and Monster starter pack for that matter. We have the best count of stock eartips from our favourite chinese brands like VSonic,DUNU,BW,SM compared to others but VSonic is worth mentioning it, you just can't go wrong with their 14 pairs with their entry level GR02....

By looking at the pictures it reminds me wearing TF10 to me.....yeah that's what I see myself in the mirror like an alien with two antennae on either ears when I listen to TF10 :-)
