Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread

You won't regret it. I have purchased from them many times and their shipping to the USA was super fast. I'm sure they will get to the UK quickly as well. These things are by far the best I have ever owned. I'm finally stopped IEM shopping... for now..... It's a disease.  :)

Rather than pull the Dunu directly outwards from my ear I hold the housing and gently pull downwards first, this breaks the seal around my canal. From there the tips easily slide out. Using the spiral tips I've not had them come off using this method. Long as you break the seal first to avoid suction (which is what pulls the tip off) you won't have any issues.

That's exactly how I pull IEMs out of my ear. Also, opening my mouth at the same time helps in breaking the seal with ease. It works we'll for me at least.

I will admit the buzz around this IEM has me tempted. Also I'd like a second decent pair of IEMs to complement my EPH 100 as all I have is the XBA 1 which aren't very good. Are these seriously worth it? The whole design, accessories, attention to detail and sound seem really interesting, and I can stomach the price.

Sounds good. Now I have to find as much stuff to sell as possible so I can afford these :)

razor5cl, I bought the EPH100 before I picked up the DNK. I ended up returning the Yamahas. The EPH100's were pretty good, but the DNK is just better in almost every way. I would say the Yamahas have a slight edge in comfort, though the DNK isn't uncomfortable in my opinion. The DNK's just sound so much better that it is no contest as far as I am concerned. Hope that helps!

I agree on all of that especially the bolded section. The Yamaha are decent IEM's, the Dunu are leaps and bounds ahead. To my ears having owned Westone 3, Westone 4 (and 4R), DN-1000 are punching above IEM's in that kind of price category.

Why we're seeing comments like these....

Thanks lads - it really was a pleasure writing it, and the DN-1000 still occupies top spot for me at the moment.

95% certain that I'm selling the SE535 "Reds" sometime soon .....

I consider DN-1000 one of the best purchases I made all year jumping in early straight after hearing an audition unit. They just sound so damn good. One of the best hybrids for 2013 without question.
