TIA.

I'd say this, the only difference that bothered me was bass speed/firmness. I found the DN-1000 lacked it but the sound was nice and clean otherwise. At the same time, some might like the bass characteristics, finding it natural/organic. Agree with H2, good hybrid.

You hope it DOESN'T become one?  Hasn't it been one for years if you're not buying from authorized sellers?

I've had the gr07 mkii and the BE. In short, the DN1K:

- has a proper sub-bass. this is the first iem that actually picks up on the low rumble sounds in my hip hop tracks, whereas the gr07s are cut very short.

- has a hard hitting lower bass

- has more bass

- has more clarity. the instruments are separated better than both gr07s

- reveals slightly more details

- is smoother and more 'fun' sounding whereas the gr07 seems like a treble-head phone that sounds kind of dry and lifeless

- is somehow able to sound "thin and slightly airy" while still having a low, powerful bass that doesn't interfere with the other frequencies

One negative aspect of these earphones is the fit. The housing is slightly big, heavy, and hard. Trying to wear these down was kind of painful, because these are too big to put in my ear canal (I don't have big ears). The way I combated this was to use the over-ear guide with the double-flanged wide hole tip. This keeps the back of the metal housing sticking slightly outside of the groove of your ear, keeps the front of the housing from getting into your ear canal (which causes discomfort after about 40 minutes), all the while still delivering a comfortable seal, since the only thing in your ear canal is the silicone. I would type more, but I'm about to go lift some weights.

I don't even see why people go to Ebay. It's a trailer park full of people who sell used items, mark them as "new," then put some bogus crap in the description like "well, uh... yeah. These were only opened to test that they work. But they're new. Trust me."

Thanks for the info...mine were delivered today, so I'll get to make my own comps soon!  Appreciate it.

Ahhhh yeah these things are fantastic. Using the new X5ii I couldn't be happier at this point.

Exactly the upgrade I was looking for. I always thought the GR07s were fairly bright but these things take it to another level and that's a good thing. The whole spectrum is more lively and energetic while expanding the sound stage.

I was a little worried about them before they came reading all the finicky fit and heavy weight. Yes they were a bit tough to find the perfect tip but thank goodness they give you a metric ton of options to choose from. I ended up w the mid sized spiral silicone ones and the red spacers so the insertion was a little deeper. I normally wear headphones over the ear so the weight isn't an issue at all.

Thanks again to everyone's great impressions in this thread. Head fi does it again.

I want these DNK so much, but first I have to sell my TF10... Is anyone interested?
I have a pair of TF10's lying at my place - but they are my brother's. Maybe I should try them out.. wink.gif. What are you looking at selling for?
I'm thinking to buy DN1000 as an upgrade over TF10. I miss the dynamic bass slam. Can you compare both?
Lol, I was wondering on what price you were looking at selling wink.gif.
I will try to make use of the TF10s for a day or so and tell you how I feel the two compare (if I can get round to it). I'm sure my brother won't mind me trying them out - since they are sitting with me for some time now.

What cable is that? the Y-splitter is almost the size of an earpiece:wink:.....

btw, just keep the tf10,get the dn1k and see which one you like the most, coz it might be difficult to get a tf10 when you really need them again,if you want (after it's gone).

Yes,  Y-splitter is pretty big but really light. I bought this cable from Null Audio long time ago... "Arete" or something, can't remember.

I mostly listen to Dub Step, EDM like music. Sub Bass is most important for me. If I had the DN 1000, first song I would listen on them would be Perverse - Shaitan.

Probably I should just buy them while wife does not see. ;)

Is there a way to determine whether or not you have a newer DN-1000 with the better cable?

This is what I was also wondering. Only way I can imagine is via the serial. If they know what serials the "new" batch have.
