Speaking of isolation, I got bad news this week from CustomArt: Piotr can not make silicone custom tips for DN-1000. Reason: tip may fall/slip off too easily, there is not enough attachement.

I am curious whether DN 2000 will be any better in this regard.

just got these in.

tried all the spacers, i liked blue the best.

im confused about the tips though. can someone provide me with an outline? many of them seem very similar.

  1. silicone transparent soft, narrow barrel small/medium work good so far has little isolation BUT is sits very comfortable since it adaptes very fast to body temperature and is very flexible in its structure
  2. silicone grey/black strenghten tips, wide bore barrel, additional structrual design to give it more density, has better isolation but not the same comfort factor as the transparent tips
  3. bi-flange or double flange have superior isolation  to both single flange tips, these tips reach further into the ear canal and could make the wearing to some less comfortable. but the seal it self it pretty tight, bass has profound pounding and nice kick with these
  4. 3 pairs of "comply" style memory foamies (my personal favourite) this foamies has significant comparability to these ear safety plug "3m ear classic ii" http://pr-technics.de/ebay/produktbilder/plus6/ohrschutz/3m_ear_classic2.jpg these nice things give the best comfortable seal of all tips IMO they adapt pretty fast to body temperature

are all the foam tips the same?

the black ones sound a little dark

the red ones warm

and the blue ones cold...

..just kidding all the same but the color

I got 4 pairs of tips. black, red, blue and grey. the grey is a little different.

so far im liking the medium wide single flange with blue rings. the clear single flange and grey foam is alright. the blue foam and double flanges dont seal.

liking the sound so far.

Hmm... is the grey a little more rounded off than the other foams?

Any DN1k owners out there had the SM 64 to compare to? Considering picking up a used pair and I'd love to hear some thoughts regarding the two.

whats everyone's fav tip/spacer combo? i settled on the medium black silicon tips with the red spacer for now. i did some AB tests between straight from my ipod classic and with the LOD connected to the e17. there is definitely a difference in sound but its not clear which i prefer more. so im just gonna leave the amp at home for these - not worth the bulk.

Well, got in both the Dunu DN-K and a Fiio X3, which is my first non-rockbox DAP.  The DN-K is really quite impressive.  Atm, it sounds like it might be roughly on par with my HE-400.

I imagine like most IEMs these will improve with some burn in...  question being, should I just enjoy them and let them burn in as I go, or burn them in for a few days, then try them again.  Any thoughts?

I own both SM64 and the Dn1. The SM64 is the better iem in my opinion. Better bass, better separation among other things. T Peos H300... now that's another story.

Thanks for your response. Do you think the H 300 bests the SM 64?
