Hell, even Ultimate Ears tripleFi10 brought me better timber accuracy and less treble fatigue... But soundstage size and instrument separation H3 offers, no contest, huge winner, hats down... Even so, I could not fill confortable with such a bright, aggressive signature Sony had... May be there was a synergy issue ?

I had listened to Sennheiser IE80, UE TripleFi10, Westone 3 and now Sony H3… From all those earphones, in my opinion, TripleFi shared the best life-like presentation from my Ipod's headout.

Sorry for offtopic guys...

Take it to PMs my friend!

Sorry eric mate, I have to disagree with you for the first time ever

I had a chance to buy this rather cheaply compared to the rest of the world when I was overseas on holiday ($285), walked in to one of the local Sony store and was going to buy, then the young owner saw me with LSX5 on my ear, we then started chatting and he's also a hobbyist just like us, and he asked if he could audition my LSX5, I said sure, as long as you let me try H1, H2, and H3, and yeah so long story short...when I first listened to DN-1000, it kinda blew my mind away, especially the bass, even AX-60 kinda blew my mind away too, but I didn't get the same impression when I put H3 on, to me it sounded like a slightly thicker, and more energetic than DN-1000, in fact, I like H1 more than H3...anyway, remembering how the Dunu sounded, I wasn't compelled enough to buy, after I had it on

Same price? Dunu is $200 and H3 is around $300, is it not?

Believe it or not, our local Sony dealer sells Sony XBA H3 for 200$, brand new, unopened, unused, 1 year warranty

Where are you from? US$200 for the Sony XBA-H3? That's much cheaper than in most other countries I think? Is it a promotion or clearance price? How about the price that other Sony dealers in your country are selling the XBA-H3?

No problem disagreeing mate. We all hear differently... But I would argue that you can't get the full aura of the H3 by listening to it in a store.

I still say there is no comparison. The H3 is like a headphone in an IEM to my ears. When they call it High resolution, that's just not a marketing ploy. I really like the DN-1000 (not even thinking about selling it), but it can't compete at all (to my ears) with the H3. It's like apples and oranges to me. I'll try be more specific as to why in a bit.

HI,
So after I bought the dn1k which I really enjoy, I am looking to further improve the great sound of them. I Currently use them with my galaxy s4 and my hp laptop. I think of buying a portable dac and amp and have my eyes on the fiio e07k.
The dn1k is low impedence, so will it benfit from the amplification and the dac?
Have someone tried this pairing and can tell me if there was a noticable improvment when pairing these two or the change is small?(mainly in the sounstage, details, and overall sound)
i
Is there another portable amp/dac that can make a good difference?
Thanks!

You would not regret getting fiio -- I use e17 alpen. It is really night and day compared to phones or tablets output, dn1k benefits greatly from amping. But I would not say it is details and soundstage, rather overall sense of realism, involvement, liquidity, slam. But huge difference, really. Put your fiio volume to the maximum, use digital volume control on your device and then voila - the magic happens!

When properly amped, I feel that dn1k outperform my big headphones, HE-400 (share most of the good features and avoid HE-400 problems with treble -- no spikes and harshness on dn1k) and every iem in my inventory (N4, R-50, GR01, RE-400). It is really amazing how hood $200 iems can be.

I also use my Dunus with the E17 with very noticeable improvements. Deeper soundstage, and more resolution overall. Try obviously don't need amping but it is nice to have the extra power nonetheless.

Thanks for your help!!!

I can buy the fiio e07k for 85 USD with free shipping from mp4nation. The e17 will cost me 127 USD (above my budget by 37 USD ) with shipping included from ebay.

I have read that the e07k battery will last longer, the dac is pretty much the same, but the e17's amplifier is superior. Is there a big difference between the two?

Thanks again!

I haven't heard both to compare, but you'll be fine with the EO7K. I received the E17 is a gift, and if I had my pick, I'd pick the former for the reasons you listed.

You want to upgrade your player or you just want the headphone amp? And it will be easy for us to suggest if you could let us know your need.
